I'm a Gills fan and we all love Eaves, no denying that, but you are right, the ref gave him sod all yesterday. As the opposition I was laughing my socks off at poor Eaves standing looking on in bemused amazement at the ref, the point being Eaves was right, he was hard done by. I remember one particular decision given against Eaves and he done nothing wrong, I can't remember who it was, possibly MacDonald, but our guy played Eaves and the situation, to deceive the ref. I think once our young defender (Tucker) got done by Eaves once, he wasn't going to let it happen again. Hence I agree with your donkey comment, without detriment I hasten to add. It's not pretty but when we have to take on the likes of Hull and Sunderland, we have to be direct, if we are not we would get caned. We rode our luck, because how some of your chances didn't find the back of the net is beyond me, my bloody nerves were in tatter, but as I said to one of my lot, Hull's inability to score is not my problem, ours is to take the opportunities when they come. I really enjoyed the game, did we deserve to win, no, did Hull deserve to win, yes, but with the final kick we nearly stole it, sods law. The same happened to us against Doncaster, we nearly stole three points against them, when we hit the post. We took this attitude, with Lincoln and Doncaster, it earned us points from both games. Do I think YOU will go up, I honestly don't have a clue, it's too tight to call, but you were tougher opposition than our mentioned previous two. Just a quick word about Steve Evans, most fans hate him, I use to before he come to my club, I was in shock when he was appointed, I even went along to the open evening, because I wanted to hear what he had to say for himself, especially after Posh. Feelings aside though, this is the first season we've not been looking over our shoulders, so it makes a change for every game to be our cup final for a different reason other than relegation. Anyway, enough of me boring you guys, good luck for the remainder of the season.
Great post BRB. You did what you had to do yesterday and you got a positive result so well done on that. It's refreshing to see honesty from an opposition fan. Full credit for that. Good luck in the playoffs. Do feel free to visit us anytime mate.
Interesting what you say about Evans. The likes of him Warnock Pulis - away fans live to hate, home fans put up with, but owners love cos they’re a safe pair of hands and usually successful too. Pragmatic but maybe not very appealing. was going to edit live for love, but on second thoughts ...
“We looked like winning it as they got nervous. They had their chances but we’re disappointed not to have won the game,” said Steve 'fat ****' Evans.
I know coaches like to big their players up but ffs, I cannot believe he said that - what ****ing game was he watching?
I don't particularly like the guy's approach but if I'm honest I thought they were as likely to score from another set piece in the last 5 as we were from open play - and indeed they very nearly did. I think if we'd been in their shoes we'd have thought it was a deserved point and could easily have snatched it.
You can't really claim to disappointed with a point, when you should have been at least 3-0 down by half time.
I think we're alright, it depends on Burke and whether he stays fit, he's our best centre half and I don't think Greaves is as effective without him. I definitely prefer Ingram to Long, but they're both good keepers and we have some very good prospects in Cartwright and Robson coming through.
Bloody ell the Yorkshire post has the rugby lads helping Us out !!!! FFS at least get the name right...
Burke’s an important piece to the jigsaw at the moment. Young Greaves only lacks experience but that will come. Disagree about our keepers and don’t think either are good enough and certainly not for Championship football.
Not sure our centre halves are up to championship standard either. Wouldn't mind seeing an old-fashioned hardcase in there alongside Burke or Greaves, no?
