Swansea City is disgusted by racist abuse received by Ben Cabango via social media following Wales’ friendly fixture against Mexico. Once again, we call on social media companies to take responsibility and introduce more stringent safeguards and punishments in order to eradicate such appalling conduct on their platforms. Swansea City condemns racism and abuse of all kinds because it has no place within football and wider society. We fully backed the EFL’s recent open letter to social media companies and reiterate our desire to see change. Ben has the full unwavering support of everyone at the football club and we will work with the relevant authorities on this matter. “As a football club, we are appalled by this. No-one should have to endure this type of abuse,” said Swansea City chief executive Julian Winter. “Ben is representing his country, he is a proud Welshman and it is a proud moment for he and his family. “Sadly, instead of talking about football we are once again talking about this disgusting abuse that continues to tarnish the game and society. “Social media companies now have to act. Words are no longer sufficient – they have to go above and beyond to impose suitable restrictions and combat such abhorrent levels of abuse. “We will support Ben unequivocally on this matter and back him in every way possible.”
To be regularly/constantly racially abused is not very nice. I know from personal experience of living in Africa, where white people are fair game. Just try and complain about it though, and see how far you get. I jokingly raised the matter to a senior police officer of my acquaintance, and his response was, " You should leave the country, go home ". When some Sierra Leonean friends of mine were being racially abused and threatened by fellow blacks, I protested to the authorities, and was told very strongly to " mind my own business, or else ". Black on black racism is endemic in Africa, yet I don't ever remember any blacks living in the West complaining about it, or even mentioning it. Their hypocrisy is quite sickening, so much so that their constant whingeing about it goes over my head.
I'm guessing its not Club rivalry as the players are from different Clubs, its sickening to hear and no excuse for it .
All the idiots of the world have a platform now. It's called "social media". They were just ignored and laughed at in the good old days.
I'm guessing and it is only a guess f**king thick t++t. its a term of endearment in some parts of the world
Now Lowe .... “Swansea City forward Jamal Lowe was racially abused on Instagram following their defeat at Birmingham City on Friday night. Lowe posted the offensive message on his Instagram page, writing "some serious idiots out there" alongside it. Facebook told BBC Sport Wales the account which posted the message has been removed for breaking its rules. Lowe is the third Swansea player since February to be subjected to racist abuse on social media.”
I give up, I know the lads not on form, but that does not give people the right to abuse the lad. Shocking!!
