SINNDABELLA 7/1 Carlisle 2:55 Its a long old schlep up there from Devon and a yard that dont usually waste diesel. They got her nicely handicapped then took her todays venue and duly collected in a handicap. They had a grilling from the stewards but survived that and now she can go on again.
A couple of non runners in this as has been pointed out. Sawpit Sienna runs from the Drinkwater yard and they won't be going up to Carlisle for fun. She was disappointing last time but if she can put that run behind her she has to go close. She is working well and trainer has confirmed she has a good chance in this. I have backed her each way which is a pretty solid bet. Sawpit Sienna 6/1 each way 2 places. Good luck all!
Singlefarmpayment is out today and is being backed I see. He is one of my favourite horses in training but hasn't been able to put it fully together this season. Very well handicapped though as on a mark now of 130 and has been backed on every single one of his runs this season. I haven't backed him today as I just feel one or two of these are going to be too good.. But good luck to the Henry Oliver yard and connections. 3lbs below his last winning mark now. Anyone rate his chances today?
The beautifully named Tenebrism makes her racecourse bow today in the first at Nass , a filly by Caravaggio out of Immortal Verse. I like the correlation of the naming between Father and Daughter. I wouldn't be banking on a winning debut with conditions bound to be very testing, but she's one to follow regardless of today's result. One who will like conditions is Njord 7/2 who runs in the 3.25. This is a nice race, I see Jessie Harrington also saddles King Of Comedy, the ex Gosden horse here now too. He didn't quite kick on from his early promise and he's easy to overlook on stable debut, given the ground conditions are against him. Njord will most likely be waited with before the conditions start to find the front rank out, hopefully he can come on through the mud then and pick up the pieces late on. I like Fantasy Lady 2/1 in the G3 Lodge Park Stakes. His form from that second in Dundalk is looking useful and he then won on his final start of the season in the Curragh, going clear of the third that day. There has been a little bit of support for him early on which is normally a good sign from the Twomey yard. Dermot Weld has a likely improver in Eylara here, with Archie Watson running his last time out CD winner Parent's Prayer who would likely be the selection for me only for the big weight concession. Good luck.
Two shorties for my main bet today. 1:20 Donny - Dirty Rascal 4/1 4:00 Naas - Parents Prayer 3/1 Win singles and win double
That was scintillating. A first win for Caravaggio. Tenebrism drifted from as short as 5/4? Winning at odds of 7/2, she looked potentially high class.
Don't think there is a better example of a bridle horse than this one , hasn't put it together for years now , that means first past the lollipop, infuriating horse for connections/ punters , maybe he don't like his name ?
What is quite mental though is that again (so all his runs this season) he has been quite heavily backed. Today backed in to favouritism. I wonder who is backing him? Someone must know something or maybe not?
I think its probably just the optimism of people thinking that at some point it'll all click and the horse will eventually win. I'd be wanting 20s or bigger to even consider backing that horse though
You would think that Royal Ascot would be on the agenda after that. Aidan doesn't have a good record in the 5F Queen Mary and you would think the 6F Albany is a better race for a filly hoping to progress through the season to the better targets. No betting for Royal Ascot yet but I remember getting odds for the meeting when Caravaggio himself made his debut in April and I had him at 10/1 for the Norfolk Stakes only for the plan to change and I had to back him for the Coventry as well at 6/1. Mind you, O'Brien's Albany record isn't much better, so if the price is not right it might be early days to leap in.
Get in there Singlefarmpayment. I didn't have a bean on him but so pleased to see him do the business today. Love it how he tanks in to a race - love this horse.
Views Rudey??? Would be interested to hear what Nass thinks too who's hasn't been that complimentary about the horse on here....
