What a game! Excellent performance by the lads, like a proper cup final.

Think I'm going need time out to think, before I select on this one, would love to put up the whole team, but I know it don't work like that.

It's going to be down to what were the three crucial moments of the game.

..... It was certainly a good point that we stole ??? Hull were guilty of some dreadful misses - at least 3 'open' goals. They also had almost free run down our flanks - especially our left.... At the risk of being 'red-carded' for being critical - our starting back line was the worst I have known at the Club. Tucker must have been relieved when Eaves was substituted.... as for Jackson - has he considered basketball ? - his absence forced Tucker out of position - leaving a lot of room in the middle.... O'Gilvie is not a left-sided (last line ) defender... O'Connor - probably a nice person -- too nice to 'get stuck in.' All I seem to see is him uncommitted when asked to challenge. ((( ....sorry Mr. Scally ! ))) We couldn't use Graham properly - because he spent so much time covering. .... We got lucky - and Hull will need to do a lot better next season if they get promoted -- or will come straight back down.

I applaud the effort - on the whole it was what I hope for from the side - but, IF we have any aspiration of playing at a higher level, we desperately need some full backs ( just for starters )

    Ignore alwayswrong ^^^ <whistle> ;)

I actually thought O'Connor saved us a few times from what looked like good goal scoring opportunities for Hull. As for the oppositions shooting ability, not our problem, I should really go and find that 'I'm blind' gif, to describe Hull's lack of accuracy in front of goal.

In fact I thought our entire defence was marvellous. Especially with the changes forced on us by Cundy's absence. I do agree Ogilvie is defo not a CB, but he does what the gaffer tells him.

NO!...I'm not wirting this because Mr Scally has put us all on a warning, I genuinly think the entire team did well. The problem is I can't decide which three were the most outstanding.

Bonham saved us a few times, late in the second half, Dempsey was his usual workhorse self. Graham was busy all over the pitch, as alwaysright has highlighted.

MacDonald looks a no nonsense sort of guy and that's what you need in tough games like this. Although subbing him was the correct decision, I was worried he was tightrope walking a red.

Jacksons throws were causing the usual problems, while Tucker eventually got the handle of Eaves after our early lapse. Albeit I was surprised Hull subbed Eaves. Also Tucker gave the assist.

Oh go on then, let's go for it.

    1. Bonham, finger tip save and another save at close range, enabled us to nearly sneak it at the end.
    2. O'Connor, just so I can wind up my mate <laugh> Nah seriously I'm sure he put in a few crucial tackles
    3. MacDonald, I love a no nonsense player, every team needs one.

Sorry to Lee, goalscorers normally get the top three, but I had to judge over 90 mins. Apologies also to Jack, you did well lad. See, now I feel bad.

Oh btw, Mr Scally I love you to x

That's me off the hook <laugh>

brb - you don't work in my mother's care home do you ?
Like I said - the commitment was fairly great.
Lets be honest - Hull were extremely wasteful - a really bad day in front of goal for them -whilst that may not concern you, Gills were lucky. The skill level in most of the squad, in my opinion, is well below that required to have realistic aspiration for this season, let alone any ambition of survival in a higher division.... but, I am thankful of not being in danger of relegation ( for a change.)

Couple of points in there, firstly, yes the Gills were lucky. However, Hull were also lucky as Samuel was denied by the inside of the post a winner, with the last kick of the game. For me, the Gills are an established L1 side, going to Hull and taking a point against the tabel toppers is as good has a win.

The second point, I never expect any L1 side to be good enough for the Championship, even those that do go up, will need to rebuild a new squad capable of maintaining their place in the Championship.

We've been here before with MadDog, he smashed L2, but wrongly assumed he would smash L1, it was never going to happen.

As per realistic expectation, we are only TWO points off the play-offs, IF Graham's shot that hit the post against Doncaster had gone in, we would be joint sixth, play-off. IF Samuel's last kick of the game had gone in, instead of hitting the post, we again would have been joint sixth, play-off place.

So if Hull were unlucky, then the Gills over those two games were robbed by fate.
