They can't be that good mate if they couldn't beat greece to an automatic spot. Like I say time will tell when we play them in the qualifiers,I am quietly confident!!!

I remember England were in the top 6 for ages, even when we were losing games. It's a total fix as I remember us being above Italy not long after they'd won the world cup. <doh>

    This is how I see the home nations;

I see England as a good national side, not a top side but good.

Ireland then probably next best, sort of there or there abouts, along with the Swedens and the South Koreas.

Scotland have fallen from grace a bit lately but are slowly picking up, with the right formation probably competing with Ireland.

I'm actually quite excited by Wales. Have a lot of time for Gary Speed and have a good young side with a few quality players. Think come 2014 they'll be pretty good, in with a chance of qualifying.

Northern Ireland are a mess at the minute, had a spell of being decent but a lot of pride has been lost. Players choosing to play for the Republic or shying away from national service. Work needs to be done there.

I think England have relied on the same few names for too long, rather than rotating and playing younger players in the qualifiers (or in form players).

Bit over the top and i wouldn't use the rugby as a crowing point especially against a team that is one of only four nations to win it whereas yours hasn't.
If you'd read the article and the pages after it he's just pointing out a fact it's the depth of the player pool teams like Ireland,Scotland and Wales have to choose from

England imo isn't even in the top 15 maybe even the top 20
edit just looked at the list and was a bit harsh but they aren't a top 10 team

As a Scot, I take great offence by this. However the sad reality is that you are correct. Eventually though, I hope we can turn things around. Euro 96 was a long time ago :(

Seeing who sits between wales and NI is shocking, Gabon ffs, do they even have a team , panama!? Not sure who does the stats on this but this is nothing short of a piss take.

Personally wales are on the up we looked good last few games, speed has brought some youth to the team and hopefully the world cup would look a better team , so long as we get pana and gabon in our group..oh wait

Gives Wales its due in the rugby , were the only team left against 3 past winners, we have every right to use it as a crowning point.

Its the pointing out how the amazing players you have and the ****e we have that irked me m, when it was clear to see england struggled at wembley against our "championship" side

Stop your whinging you helmet. This is just an observation and a realisation. A national side is the best players an entire country can put out, and unfortunately for both countries many of their first-choice players are effectively Championship level. On the world stage, that's never going to fair very well.

    Voila, facts.

And I'd rather you didn't think of me as an England supporter attacking the other teams to be honest. I don't really care for England much now and couldn't give a balls what they get up to.

Now would you rather have the truth, or would you rather I just patronise you and say that Scotland and Wales have good sides?

actually think you'll make the final esp. after your jammy result against Ireland <grr>
he wasn't saying that what he actually pointed out is a fact the player pool that Ireland Scotland and Wales have to choose from is pretty poor compared to England but then it also highlights how bad England are with the better group of players to choose from

Edit: Take offence at the highlighted bit

Thankfully chappaz were both toon fans and in truth we love each other, but the dig on both scotland and wales and lack of quality is not needed. England are poor despite having all the star players, and dont perform on the world stage.

    Voila Facts

Wales are on the up and I disagree with your view on our sides being poor. You cant judge a team based on whether they play for barnsley or Man City. Toon are evident that team spirit outweighs whether a superstar is in the team, who siad we would be sitting 4th ?

As an aside, at least Wales and Scotland have national managers that are from their respective countries <whistle>

Looks like I'm supporting France again next summer though...
