Well, information galore on the Lincoln from Nassau and Ron (Timeform ratings), so absolutely no need to repeat anything! Thanks guys, excellent work. For myself, have boiled (or half-boiled) it down to Danyah and Eastern World. Should be a corker of a mile race! So, 15:10 Doncaster - Danyah 15:10 Doncaster - Eastern World (Singles on each and might also do a very tiny R/F, if my private bookie will take it; I am sure he will! Won't bother him a bit!) Best of luck today one and all!
Don't blame you Posh..national hunt more interesting to me, however I like a good cavalry charge so thought I would have a speculative punt.. In the other Newbury race on terrestrial TV I like the look of the Fergal O'brien runner Minella Tara. He was 14/1 this morning but he is a lot shorter now - looks like only 7 runners now too..
Doncaster 15,10 Ascension 18/1 e/w (five places) 14,35 Amaysmont 10/1 e/w (five Places) 16,55 Mutamaded 22/1 e/w (four places) Newbury 14,50 Hudson De Grugy 5/1 Kelso 14,05 Mr. Harp 7/2 Meydan 13,30 Moss Gill 40/1 e/w (four places) 16,50 Salute The Soldier 9/1 e/w (four places)
Nass is right to pay attention to the foaling dates of the Brocklesby runners, but I've often found that a better guide in these very early 2yo races is the difference between the foal-price and the yearling-price. The one that hits you in the eye this year is Forca Brasil (6500 euro foal, 60,000 gns yearling) which you would normally take to mean that someone fairly discerning has seen encouraging signs of maturity/precocity. I have only one - very remote - connection to the Boughey yard, but when I spoke to him late last night he was a broken and incoherent man following the run of the stable's Air to Air yesterday evening (7.15 Newcastle - don't watch it if you're easily upset). But Jamie isn't riding this one and, as far as I could make out between the sobs and the expletives, they expect to get their money back on FB this afternoon. No guarantees, of course, and it's quite possible that another of the 'early' stables has got a decent one up and ready. The market seems to be paying attention, though, and I'll be surprised if Forca Brasil doesn't go very close. I think this is my 500th post, spread over nearly ten years, and Forum colleagues are welcome to join me in a toast at their own expense. Slainte.
Ascension 3.10 donc has a decent chance. heavy ground against last time. Haqeeqy has a claimer on board Presumably because the trainer feels that his handicap rating is too high
Dettori is in Meydan, Havlin in Kempton and the apprentice is one of the only apprentice jockeys Gosden has ever had... He's rode a good few horses for him on the All Weather and seems like a decent jockey, I'd imagine he must be if he's an apprentice for that yard. Considering the other option would've probably been Nicky Mackay I'd be happy enough with the young lad. Although this is his first ever big handicap so that's probably against him... But if Gosden thinks he's good enough then I'm not going to argue with him... I hope for his own confidence he doesn't make a mistake and ends up placed, with PJ McDonald romping home on my 66/1 shot Dashing Roger. 6 places, can see him making the frame. Was running well in handicaps including beating the aforementioned Ascension by over 4 lengths. He was 8lbs better off in that race and they race off level weights today. He's had a poor 2 runs since that race, but I think you can put one of them down to upping in distance and heavy ground. Has won on Good to Firm too so can't argue with the ground today. Good to see him back to a mile today too. He's drawn high which I'm hoping is good today, and at 66/1 with 6 places I couldn't turn it down.
It seems quite a few not606 posters are on Ascension. I don't quite know why he is so popular with peeps on here but good luck with him..
Got sent Top Rank this morning and did not back it under the penalty as I thought it could not beat the fav. Typical. The other one sent is Global Esteem which I have backed so has no chance.
