Isn't the idea behind financial fair play, two-fold..

To produce a level playing field as it were, so not just the richest club(s) win everything every season. A look back at who wins the league and the cups over the past 10 or so years, is evidence that a level playing is rubbish. Us and the mags as things stand when we are in the Premiership have very little chance of winning the league. (LEICESTER)

Then FFP is supposed to prevent clubs going bust, spending money they do not have in the hope of achieving success. Lockdowns have made clubs finances precarious atm.

Misunderstood your original post, thought you were suggesting a wage cap on max you can pay a player, not at club level.

Aren't there rules already (under Ffp?) that cover that? Wages can only be a % of a clubs overall revenue.

Has it ever really been in full effect? I remember Wolves hoying copious amounts of fun coupons at players then just paid a small (in footballing terms) when found guilty at the end of the season.

So if they scrap this, that surely makes it good for us no? (If and when we do get back to the pl)

I definitely think there should be wage caps in place to stop the super rich clubs domination.

My understanding of the 'rich' deals that Chitty signed, including one with the national airline (owned by the clubs owners) was that the sums involved were ridiculous, no way was it a market/commercial deal, rather the monetary amount set was calculated to enable Chitty to claim it was following ffp rules. In other words a sham....

Celtic/.Rangers in Scotland, the richest clubs by miles, what a really boring league over the decades

Man City is owned more a less by a very rich country, that cannot be fair, they will certainly keep on winning almost everything, which is ridiculous

We, the T.V. subscribers, can play a big part in this. If a breakaway League starts up, people just shouldn't subscribe to it. The domestic leagues are the bread and butter of the sport and there's no room for elitism. Bollocks to European games. The national supporters groups should get behind the campaign to boycott it.

Salary caps and bonus caps should be introduced to limit club spending and help to level the playing field a bit. The salaries at the top now are just plain silly.
Greater control of agent commissions should be introduced too.

There should be a cap on how many academy players you can have (either at the club or on loan), to stop the hoovering up of young talent by the top clubs, who then ship these players out on loan before selling them after they've made just a handful of appearances.

If things continue the way they are, Football will self-destruct, and become a victim of it's own success.

That was initially the case for sure, but as the clubs growth continued, they are all legitimate now.

They cheated the system but got to the right end goal. The Puma deal for example is beyond question genuine, and it’s a beast of a deal.

Etihad do hub out of Manchester in the UK so that was the argument they put, but that was a farce.

There was actually a rumour that the Puma deal was not all that legit, in that somehow it was not really an arms length commercial transaction. Since one of the other Arab country organisations were involved in recompensing Puma. All this of course to enable Chitty to spend what it wants.

When you look at the Puma deal in comparison to the others they’ve taken with major clubs, it looks about right.

Its bigger than Milan, who are a bigger, more famous club, but the PL tax justifies it.

The amount of PL shirts sold worldwide is staggering.

I take your point, but what I am also pointing out is that Puma may have more than one deal going with the various Sheik's.

When you look into it, the fans of the clubs that would be part of this don’t want it.

I don’t think it will ever happen. Players and managers always say ‘Champions of your own league first’

I just don’t see it happening. They will continue to expand the CL but I just can’t see a scenario when it’s gonna be better for Liverpool, United etc to not be focused on the PL.

It would kill those clubs, people would get bored quickly. You could argue that the remaining PL clubs could say ‘welcome Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts’ and say well **** you to the others.

Calling it “fair play” was the biggest piss take of all, it was a ruse to stop any serious challenge to the richest clubs. We should be looking at ways to make football more competitive.
