RIP Frank - he was past his prime when he played for us but was still too good for half of his team mates even then!!

I read it a while back. Borrowed it off my father-in-law. He certainly enjoyed life, didn't he! <laugh>

One of football's great characters, and a wizard with the ball at his feet. I can imagine him being a fantastic after-dinner speaker. RIP to a born entertainer.

I had the book and it was signed by FW strangely enough at a Cricket Clubs Presentation night at Richmond which we sponsored and FW was the guest speaker , had the pleasure to speak to him for a while and he loved the Mackems but it was agreed he was only here for half a season to save us from relegation. He was an excellent guest speaker and had lots of great stories , the best one was about the goal he scored for Bolton against Ipswich which is worth a view on YouTube . At the time they had Butcher and Beattie two of the best defenders of that era and as the ball is crossed in to the centre he had his back to the goal but flicked it over everyone’s heads and volleyed in to the net , couldn’t resist winding Butcher up by saying it would have been smashing to see that goal from the stands , and then said to Butcher well really you may as well have been , the red mist descended and the next time FW received the ball a chest high tackle came in from Butcher as pay back , FW spent the rest of the game keeping clear of further problems . Thoroughly enjoyed FW playing for us RIP big fella .

    - almost as good as the Claudio Marangoni goal for us :emoticon-0105-wink:

Must have seen him play as my first game was 81/82 and I went to every home game from then until I broke my leg in 89! Have no recollection of him though as I was only 7 when he played fir us

Still remember his "Focus On" in the Chronicle Pink when he was playing for us. Previous clubs? Stringfellows... Main strengths of your game? Pre-match kick in... Most difficult opponent? The ex wife... Fantastic skills and a genuine character. Rip
