Hopefully most fans’ wishes of a summer cull will actually happen and he’ll certainly be near the front of the queue.

For some reason there's a bunch of fans on Twitter saying we've avoided relegation, based on some logic about Fulham, Brighton and Newcastle playing teams around them so, by process of elimination, neither can amass more points than we have

As things currently stand, Fulham can finish the season with a maximum of 50 points, Newcastle with 55, and Brighton with 59 - and the thing is they're not playing teams around them, Brighton and Newcastle are playing Sheffield United, while Fulham play Newcastle on the final day

In other words, no, we're only guaranteed to finish ahead of Sheffield United and West Brom

He did exactly the same on Thursday night for the 2nd and 3rd goals , maybe the effort of carrying all that luggage with him has worn him out, surly the coaches must see what we see

Well at least he is somewhere close to affecting the play. Hojbjerg is nowhere to be seen having just lost the Villa player who made the cross as far as I recall. And Tanganga was also not in a position to pick up the winger but recovered well.

I googled Merson during the game and discovered he now has 8 (yes, eight) children.

Seems it’s not just alcohol and gambling he’s addicted to .... <laugh>

8 minutes on the pitch and he’s casually strolling in the box as a player’s about to shoot then sticking out a half arsed attempt to block the ball whilst Tanganga and Davies are throwing their bodies at it... That’s dreadful and shows zero desire after a dire week for everyone at the club.

I agree but Hojbjerg runs around a lot and ends up almost entirely ineffectually as far as I can see. Sissoko and Winks can probably see it too which may explain why they appear to be demotivated as the other guy always gets picked ahead of them.

It’s not always ineffectually, yesterday Hojbjerg was one of our better players. He does leave himself out of position at times and I believe that’s due to him trying too hard as well as being fatigued due to the amount he’s had to play.

Hojbjerg is also far better than those two, far better. His form has dipped recently but he still offers so much more than the other two combined. He was probably our joint best player for the first three months of the season. Hopefully he recaptures that form for the final run of games.

He is only good if you measure him on work rate and last ditch tackles. Winks rarely makes last ditch tackles because he is usually forcing an opponent to pass instead. I honestly don't rate Hojbjerg at all. Even when he was playing well he gave away a lot of chances by fouls and being out of position. Look at the goals we concede and he is at fault more than any other player.

Winks gives away a lot of fouls too, he’s also nowhere near as good at tackling as Hojbjerg is and is often ghosted by which probably ties into why he doesn’t make last ditch tackles. Hojbjerg just needs to be more positionally disciplined and he’d be fine.

I’m pretty sure a report showed that Dier is statistically at fault for most goals conceded at Spurs and I can fully believe that.

Hojbjerg has committed more than three times as many fouls as Winks in slightly more appearances in the PL.

And so he should, he's a defensive midfielder who's in the side to make more tackles, if you're attempting to make tackles you're more liable to commit more fouls. No one ever knows what role Winks plays, he can't defend, he can't create, he isn't box-to-box, he's generally a wasted selection in the side who offers nothing unique.

We've also been over this point in the past too, you'll often find defensive midfielders are amongst the highest in the league for fouls committed. It'd be similar to saying strikers have the most shots off target or defenders concede more penalties.

But he's been the highest fouling player in any position since he came to the PL! And he's got worse with us. He has given away a foul every half on average. That simply can't be good.

He's currently top for the most tackles this season.

I've already said I rate him good on tackling but I don't think that makes up for his weaknesses.
I pretty much agreed with your assessment of Winks above. He isn't especially good at anything but he has very few weaknesses.
The player I remember from 40 years back who was quite similar was Ray Wilkins. It used to disgust me that he kept Hoddle out of the England team but I now understand why.

Winks isn't a good player, that's his weakness. He'll likely be sold this summer and rightly so, it's about three years too late.

Hojbjerg's weaknesses have partly stemmed from fatigue. He was an early Spurs POTY contender in the first three months of the season, then he was being used in just about every game to the point he was becoming less effective. I won't say it's all down to fatigue as he's made some silly mistakes which can't just be attributed to being tired but I wouldn't be surprised if between now and the end of the season we see his form improve again now that he'll only be playing roughly one game a week.

Funny how certain middle-aged white racist englishmen also have a propensity for talking ****e, drinking to excess and seem intent on impregnating numerous women.

Winks can be a tidy little player in the right system and playing alongside the right players, lets not forget he is an England international also. Playing Winks alongside Sissoko does not help him to flourish one bit, Sissoko drags those around him down to his level and he is easily our worst player. These days, Sissoko`s attributes of power, pace and an engine are disappearing, there really is no reason to keep him beyond this season.... and some would say that was 4 or 5 years too long.
