In reaction to the councils decision Assem Allam is considering switching the British Open squash tournament away from the KC Stadium and into the East Riding. http://www.thisishullandeastriding....026-detail/story.html?persist=true&afterReg=Y
Can't blame him, trying to put Hull on the map once again but the councillors don't seem to want to play ball (sorry!!!)
Could just be a touch of "I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll........" (But it might show the council he means business)
The more i see of things like this the more sceptical i am becoming of what the Allams true intentions really. Maybe i am just too cynical nowadays. They just seem to be constantly looking to pull off a PR coup at every opportunity. The focus seems to have well and truly gone away from the Tigers, and in my opinion seem to have an ulterior agenda behind everything at the moment. Its good that they pumped money into the team etc but with everything else that is being thrown up, it just makes me wonder, just what is it that they are really after?
I would much rather they focus on the club rather then the surroundings at the minute, even if we do get a new stadium, we aren't going to fill it whilst in the Championship, we aren't even filling the KC Stadium. The Premier League has to be number 1 priority and to stay in it for a number of seasons just like Stoke have done.
I couldn't agree more Bev. I know people like to run before they can walk, but it just seems they are intent on taking their ball home at every opportunity, which makes me wonder if they are really in it for Hull City or whether the club is the means to another end....
totally agree on that point. when you think that we went up with stoke and look at them now. getting the tigers back to the prem has to be the top priority and the richies that brings. hence why the Allams have said they will invest in city in january if the club are around where we are now. it makes very good business sense to me. afterall, the squash thing is not until 2013 anyway so times yet for that and Beverley is fine by me. great pubs there.
The Allams are heavily in to Squash as a sport so it is no surprise that they are showing an interest and trying to promote it in the local area. This has nothing to do with Hull City and will not affect us, wherever the Squash tournament is played. The Allams are allowed to have other interests apart from Hull City!
If some brainless knob from HCC had just spoken a load of bollocks about me, I'd take my business elsewhere too.
Was interesting to read also in the Sun this morning that Stoke have almost nothing in debt compared to most of the Premiership teams, even with the amount they have spent!
makes you want to cry dont it. give coates and pulis credit. unlike our previous clowns those 2 did it the right way.
Coates has a **** load of money and he's diorectly funded transfers and wages rather than allowing debt to accrue. It's what anyone would do if they had an endless pot of money.
What people fail to comprehend is that the more successful the Allams get, the more they will fund Hull City. They are printing money at the moment. There's no use in biting their hands off after they effectively saved the club from financial meltdown. After pumping in the amount they did to save us, they need to look after this investment.
Still gone about doing it the right way, in their first two season they didnt go over inflated with there prices for players, brought players in that had a point to prove and fitted there bill (tough, tall, and puts in 100%) and its paid off. Yes, they do have a brilliant chairman, but they have set out great, got into the Europa League and getting an extra injection of Cash. This is the point where we need to be before increasing the size of the stadium. However, the Allams where trying to build a sporting village not increase the size of stadium as of yet. I do believe the Allams will back us and they have said they would, if they was to not, then fans will crusify him. We dont need to have money thrown at us like Leicester, we are building a very young and talented team, we may need to add some extra quality which you need at the cutting edge part of the season. And I am well excited for it! Think potentially this could be our season, but I am not getting too excited yet, theres a long way to go! UTT
I recently saw a table of the total transfer/agent fee's paid by Premier League clubs since the start of the Premier League(between it's inception to the end of the 2009-2010 season). We apparently spent a grand total of £28,320,000. Stoke spent £79,615,000(and they've spent another £22m ahead of this season too), they were trading at a completely different level to us.
