... compared to the last two seasons.

I'm going to make the most of this and enjoy it as much as I possibly can.

With Ross and Parkinson it was a bit of a trudge but you never know what will happen next with Johnson.

There's some interesting games and I can't wait for our clashes with the likes of Peterborough, Hull, etc.

    Oxford United v Lincoln City
    Hull v Gillingham
    Doncaster v Charlton
    Sunderland v Oxford Utd

Now here I dont want you getting carried away, we'll have none of that sort of behaviour around here thank you very much.

Now go and lie down in a darkened room and take your medication there's a good chap

What I don't understand is why people will only get excited in retrospect.

If you're only prepared to enjoy the promotion battle once it's concluded then you've missed out on everything before that.

Or perhaps you're still not going to allow yourself to relax until we're back in the Premier League ...

... in which case you might miss out on a dramatic season in the Championship.

And then not be content until we're established in the PL <doh>

Balls to all that, I'll enjoy what's in front of me whatever that may be..

On a more serious note given the upcoming fixtures it is very much in our hands where we finish, isn't it always, but on this occasion I have a little more confidence in the manager / coaches to keep us competitive and on the front foot rather than sitting back waiting for something happen.
Confidence is a great thing in the run in to the end of a season and given the run we're on I think a couple of clubs will be looking over their shoulders and may make the mistake we made in previous seasons of trying not to lose rather than going out to win.
Better to be the hunter rather than the hunted at the moment I think, but time will tell.

Precisely, you can only "really" enjoy the good times if you've suffered the bad. Life's too short you've got to live a little

As I said on an earlier post their is still a lot of games and football to be played , I think it is going to be a very close run to promotion even goal difference could come in to play . We have had a lot of injuries , not being nasty I hope the clubs around us get their share because we are going to need a points total of high 80s to get in to the automatic positions . Agree their are some good games to look forward to that will define our season !

That's a tough run in for Posh mind. Either way, it's happening for us this season. Championship here we come. Strap yersels in fellas. Liftoff for the Dreyfuss dreamliner.

Far too much positivity on this board lately for my liking.

I'm very much a pessimist as far as we're concerned but even I'm quietly getting excited about the rest of this season and beyond. Johnson has made a massive difference and our squad depth, especially with the players coming back, bodes well. I expect us to go up top two, I fear no-one in those upcoming fixtures against the top teams and fully expect us to sweep them aside.

Next season will be tough but having said that, we've no idea who we might bring in (I'm talking here about being in the Championship) but I've already got faith and confidence we'll bring in some quality to at least hold our own up there.

I was at an away match with my son and @Sidthemackem with Sunderland.

We went through every emotion possible from despair to elation. We were 2-0 down and it looked hopeless but we roared our defiance. The noise grew and grew until you could see the Sunderland players being affected by it. They tackled harder, ran faster and tried harder.
We scored and the noise increased, the tempo went up another notch and when we scored again people were on the pitch, writhing on the ground and hugging the nearest person to them.

It was only Walsall but we left the stadium absolutely drained.

I doubt we'd have been more emotional if it had been the Champions League, I still have a photo of it on my desktop.

The point of all this is that you should enjoy the moment, whatever that moment may be.

100%. The smile on my son's face when Gooch scored that last minute header against Charlton in the beautiful sunshine on our first day in league one was incredible. Did it matter it was league one...no. Did I tell him how good it feels to beat the mags....no. Did I tell him about away day wins..no. Just let him smile and enjoy the win at his first game as a season ticket holder. And we can't wait to get back to the SoL win lose or draw in the sunshine or pissing rain. <party><party><party>

Was that not something like the 96th minute as they had been time wasting that much. That was quite a roar when that went in.

The two stories above remind me of when I took my youngest son to his first match at the stadium of light. Andy Reid scored his 94th minute winner against West Ham and the poor lad was ecstatic he thought all Sunderland games would be like that. Did I warn him that it wouldn't always be like that, of course not I let him enjoy the moment and it was great.
Learned what reality was like soon enough though but by then he was hooked and it's all my fault apparently :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Great story Smug but highlights the bad things that has happened to our club when a great memory involves Walsall which no disrespect to them should not feature in our memory bank . The emotion of football just explodes spontaneously and appears this was more relief based than anything , the loss of crowds at the matches is highlighted by your story the sooner we can get back to the SOL the better , watching the games on TV is certainly no substitute and I can’t understand people taking this option over seeing the games live .
