Tbh I won't be at all disappointed if we don't spend again. I don't think that it works generally. Fulham spent something like £100m and are now relying on Newcastle to collapse for them to survive. They themselves paid about £30m for Joelinton for little return. We seem to have strengthened in defence this season with no real outlay. I think well probably struggle again but faced with a choice that or being owned by oil sheikhs or oligarchs I'd rather be a boing boing club.

Calm down I just couldn't resist

Had one of us posted the same on your board you would have responded the same

As an aside what would the odds be on us two going up automatically and Bournemouth winning the playoffs

I wasn't really going off on one, merely pointing out that what you posted was heavily counter intuitive. At the moment I think it's most likely that it will get our two clubs in the auto positions, simply because Swansea and Brentford have hit rough passages. The third spot is tricky. My instinct would be the club that has a late run into No6 spot. Could even be Cardiff or Middlesborough. TBH with Colin in charge I wouldn't put money against them.

also seem, now at long last, to be playing to the players strengths.

Don Goodman quote from EFL podcast:
'When you look at Watford now, the goalkeeper was very impressive on Saturday, in an empty stadium he never stopped talking for a second.

The back four looks so solid, the midfield three have everything and there's the mobility of the front three - even without probably their best player in Ismaila Sarr.'

I don't know what others think, but I disagree with him about Sarr. Therre are others ahead of him for that accolade - Hughes, Chalobah, Cleverley, Sierralta and Sema spring to mind immediately.

Certainly in terms of form this season others have been more consistent but I guess he ought to be our best player attack wise.

I love watching the ball that Kiko plays inside the full back for Sarr by his pure speed to run on to. This is classic wing play, and as the season has progressed Sarr has improved his crosses. Although I take nothing away from any of the other players, Sarr has to be the most valuable asset we have. Hopefully Cleverly will be back soon, but it was an inspired signing when we got Gosling in.

Barnsley and Reading both dropped two points. We must be almost certain now unless a total disaster happens of being in the play offs at the very least.

Sounds like it was straight at the keeper - literally did not have to move .

Some of the decisions by this ref are quite strange to be polite.

You're not wrong - that high kick that connected with the Brum player's face went totally unpunished - I would have been screaming for another penalty.

Never thought I would feel any tension about Brum v Swansea.
