Nothing against you mate, but I personally will never accept a draw at home against the likes of Lincoln.
McFad's goal was amazing because he called for the ball and Max delivered it quite well. He's got a bit of pace and some hops. Might have been a point guard if he was born and raised on the other side of the pond.
O'Brien and Jones could have made a differnce today. Jones is absolutely another level in this league a joy to watch and O'Brien would have made sure they had a harder time at the back. Considering the amount of games we have had, the injuries and the fact Lincoln looked a good team a draw isn't a bad result (a fair one today too). Add the fact the top 2 got the same number of points today and it's a ok result.
Anyone know why Winchester was played as a number 10 today.L bro? LJ has cost us 3 points today on the basis he was too scared to drop Leadbitter
The chief sports writer at the Northern Echo corrected and misquoted the Gaffer's latest gaffe: “I'm not going to be too critical, that's for sure. They've put in a massive shift over the last few weeks and today, it's human nature to look at other results, but it's nothing lost and nothing gained.” When Johnson first arrived, and wasn't winning, we got the unfiltered version. https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...n-praises-lee-burge-sunderlands-draw-lincoln/
No midweek game now, so hopefully the lads can be fresh for the Bristol game and maybe get a couple back from the treatment room. We looked leggy yesterday, the last few weeks seemed to have caught up, But we need to push on, we have some winnable games coming up and we need to be ready for the two big away games Hull and Peterborough
You mean 2 points. And who should've played in place of Leadbitter that would've gained the extra points.
Winchester probably would have scored if he wasn't yanked back by his shirt when clean through which the ref chose to ignore.
I missed the shirt pull as I joined the stream they were talking about it but was too late to see it or the replays. Ref also ignored a penalty on Wyke from the throw. Clearly had his arms wrapped around him holding him back, could all day long not given cause it was in the box.
Ignore the points he has gained us by making good early substitutions and tactical decision in reaction to what he is seeing in front of him. But this week you have a chance to slag him and be negative so you're all over it. Also who says not playing Leadbitter wouldn't have seen us beat? I assume like mine they are hairy not crystal so we will never really know. The team, the results and the points return under Johnson has been a fantastic turn around who would have thought we would be talking about automatic when we had all just about given up hope on playoffs under parky.
We'd have gotten away with it if wasn't for those pesky Lincoln kids, who'd have thought they wouldn't want to lose eh As it happens they've won more games than us so far.
Hasn't LJ left Grant out several times since he arrived, imo he's tried to pick a horses for courses line up in games and has changed it using the subs to great effect, yesterday was a fixture that caught us up with fatigue and has been said by many it was a good point considering other results. We're at a tripping point in the season now, the players need a rest and I'm pleased they're getting two days off, time to work on the training pitch and go again at Bristol. Next week's result will be more important than yesterday's cos you can't do nowt about what's gone in the past just learn from it and I'm sure LJ will.
Well he might or might not have scored. But he was clearly pulled back and had a run on goal. Red card every time that.
And that mentality of yours is why you’ll always be flinging your toys out of your pram. We’re currently a league 1 team with a league 1 squad of players, I think the grown ups among us have accepted that and it helps us rationalise results like yesterday. We accept it and move on. The likes of Lincoln as you put it have occupied one of the top spots in this league all season long and a draw at home to them after the massive efforts of the Lads in recent weeks to get where we are now is no major disappointment. Time for a reality check Wolfy, then you’ll start to enjoy the ride we’re on, with all its ups and downs but knowing we’re heading in the right direction.
Leads is the best we have at passing and starting moves. At times it seems he passes back a lot but if you watch carefully, difficult at times with the (single) camera. That is because there is little movement up front to pass to. Our wingers need to find space, or be ready for the over the top ball. Wyke is okayish at holding the ball up but not great. Team Leads up with Scowen and between them they are a good midfield pair.
I also missed it because for some reason for the last 10 games I've just gone straight to play live and I've watched every game for free, yesterday bang on 3 o'clock did the same and it came up there was a problem so I had to log on and buy a pass. I was ****ing gutted thought I was getting them free till the end of the season
Winchester has steadily improved game on game since joining and for me would be first pick centre midfield and I would play him alongside Power. When we play a midfield 2 of Leadbitter and Scowen - from what I have seen this season is that opposition teams can easily run through our central area. Could not understand the thinking of playing Winchester as 10 but I have not seen him play throughout his career to say that he could not play there. At half time I would have took Leadbitter off dropped Winchester back - put either Stewart on to play 4-4-2 or Maguire/Neil to play as the 10 in 4-3-3. The changes in the second half left us with a shape and to easy to play against on the counter attack and relying on O'Nein and Sanderson's pace to get us out of bother. I am not big a fan of Burge but since the penalty shoot out he has cut out the moments of madness and has brought a calmness to his play which to me makes him feel safer. We were never going to win every game between now and the end of season - yesterday was a poor performance but nothing was gained or lost in the overall objective.
They're in the same league as us and in the top 4 same as us. Where we finish at the end of the season is ultimately what matters.
This is a crazy ref appointment for a game with so much at stake for hull and the teams involved. Utterly ridiculous. If hull play Peterborough will they put a Sunderland lad in charge?
