Political Reality - attack the outsider to cover up for inadequacy at home.

It doesn't matter if the attacks make sense or not, for by continuing the attacks the politician seeks only to convince their own populace that the outsider must be in the wrong otherwise they wouldn't be attacked.

The put downs of the Oxford vaccine is not just from the EU but has also came from the USA and others. My cynical mind thinks that the fact that this is a non profit making vaccine might be behind the disinformation in order to promote the other commercial vaccines.
For the record, the very latest evidence coming out is actually showing that the Oxford may be more effective than first thought and better than the others.

For the Americans that's definitely the case as its worth alot of money to them. The EU its more about their own failings

The other day there was a link on a website to an Italian newspaper there was a quote on there from an Italian minister. I think he was their health minister basically saying that the EU stance on the AZ vacine was political.

Looks like Europe's getting a third wave and we aren't. Way down the list for deaths in the second half of 2020.

Remind me who won the Eurovision Death Contest again.

I wish they would hurry up and get the Novovax vaccine approved and start making it on Teeside.

Seems funny that the EU at first disparaged the use of the Oxford/AZ vaccine, then complained about the amount of supplies they were getting of said vaccine, to then saying don't use it at all, to now all of a sudden using it.

Hopefully people don't go on holiday out of the UK to European countries this summer, let them suffer this third wave, which is apparently the "Kent Variant" (which we locked down in january for)

can't believe the incompetence of some EU countries over this, report on the news last night saying Italy had 15 million doses of OAZ vaccine, but were squabbling over whether to tow the line with Germany and France and restrict this jab to over 65's / over 50's. Meanwhile the infection rates in these countries are raging out of control, with a 3rd wave sweeping over into Poland and further afield. Its absolute madness and re-affirms to me why the UK were wise to go it alone on vaccine procurement and distribution. It seems that nothing happens over in Europe until Von Der Leyen and co. have countless meetings to arrange talks about agreeing in principle to convene at a later date to agree on a framework to hold further talks about reaching a mutually beneficial decision, which can the be ratified by another conference.....blah blah blah ( ad infinitum) while thousands of people will die waiting for medics to open the fridge doors and start jabbing. Just get the ****ing thing done, argue about it later. I feel so sorry for european citizens who are caught up in this stupid stand-off.

The people of Kent seemed to get the blame for the ''Kent'' variant. A couple of weeks ago, a migrant boat arrived and all 12 occupants tested positive. I wonder if the '' Kent'' variant maybe was brought to us as maybe the Somalian, Afghan or Calais variant. Just a thought

I have to say, the squabbling over which country is doing the worst and having the most deaths is sad ....

... this 'us against Europe' tub thumping may make people feel good but it's self destructive imo.

I'll tell you what's self destructive. Governments pissing around with red tape while their citizens are dying from Covid.
