I would have liked Spurs to have progressed last night. More games for them to suffer fatigue and injuries in their push for the top 4. At least Man Utd went through.
Good point. But it is good to see how Mourinho is bringing the side together in perfect disharmony. I was hoping Pogba wouldn't be back before the cup match. He can be such a powerful force in their midfield and be a real game changer if he wants to play.
Flip side of that is the risk (albeit not necessarily a high chance) that they or Arsenal win the EL whilst Liverpool win the CL and all finish outside top 4 and we finish 4th...would like to see Arsenal and Liverpool knocked out for that reason in the next round.
Hopefully this is plan A but it doesn't hurt to have a plan B... I think Chelsea are going to finish 3rd though. I'm unconvinced that Liverpool are likely to win the CL this year. Arsenal have a tough draw against Slavia. One or both out next round would be helpful.
First semi final in 39 years. I remember the last one against Spurs. Great comeback by Arsenal against West Ham too, robbing them of 2 points. Another good weekend, get some rest and bring on Man City!
Wow, what a game. Perfectly executed game plan and a thoroughly deserved win. Every player played their part in what was a very comfortable win in the end. For me Youri is fast approaching club midfield legend status. He is so influential and if we can keep him for a few years yet who knows where we will go.
Absolutely brilliant result. Man for man we were outstanding today. Really wasn't expecting that. First FA Cup semi final in 39 years
I was there mate... was 20 years old and at Uni at the time ... went to every round ... amazing build-up ... disappointing end.
I was 10. I remember the quarter final too. 5-2 vs Shrewsbury and us needing 3 goalkeepers. Great days.
That was probably our best all-round performance of the season. The 3 central defenders were quick and aggressive and won most everything on the ground and in the air. They provided the opportunity for us to stretch the game wide while allowing Tielemans and Wilf to dominate the centre. Iheanacho was almost unplayable. He was strong and held the ball up well, and brought other players into the game. His touch has never been in question, but his movement and work rate were phenomenal. The partnership with Vardy is now starting to look good and we're adapting well to life without Barnes and Maddison. I did wonder if the news that we'd got Southampton in the semis rather than Man City added a little bit of impetus to our second half performance.
What. A Performance. Every player gave at least an 8.5 out of 10 and now all we can hope for is everyone comes back from international duty unscathed and we go again against Man City. Vardy just needs one to go in off his backside and everything will be all rosy with him again, but he is doing so much work off the ball, it allows others to take the glory. With West Ham ballsing up a 3 goal lead, the weekend couldn't have gone much better. WEMBERLEEEEEEEEEE
Had to laugh at Maguire trying to cope with Iheanacho - all he could do was keep flattening him! Excellent play by them all.
Some major headaches coming up for Rodgers when Justin and Ricardo are available at the back and Barnes and Maddison up front. Some could say he has accidently stumbled upon a system that works or that he is a master tactician. I think probably the latter. With Evans leadership and the mobility that Cags and Fofana bring this could be a magnificent back three. Two out of Ricardo, Justin and Castange as wingbacks and we have an incredibly strong defense. Add Wilf and Youri in front and that is equal to any side in the league.
I hadn't heard about this, but knew immediately who you meant. What a player and what a showman. That Bloomfield team will go down as one of the greatest we ever fielded. As The Birch always said, they didn't win trophies but they did win hearts and minds. They were admired across the country by fans of other clubs. Not so different to the current side over the last 6 years. Worthington was pure class and should have got more England caps. We were blessed to have seen him perform in a Leicester shirt.
My favourite player as a kid ... remember him signing. My dad preferred Keith Weller ... but the pair of them and Lenny Glover!!!
Interesting comparison ... we signed both Frank and Neil Lennon after they failed medicals at Liverpool...
