2- 2 all Still if this stays the same I will have 5 points for the correct score in the prediction league
Rather have three points for the gas Charlton have had three shots to our four two on target to our three
Match stats make interesting reading possession 60% - 40% to them. Duels success rate 49% 52 % ours Ariel dual won 41% 59% to us Interception 3 to our 4. They have had 2 offsides to nil and 4 corners to nil Cam Hargreaves replaces Sam Nicholson because of an injury 3 - 2 Charlton not surprised they seem to be applying all the pressure
Just gets better and better. What for? There wasn’t a penalty so dissent, handling outside the box?
I sat down with a beer tonight and watched the goals go in on sky sports. I wasn't expecting a win or even a draw so the result doesn't surprise me at all. So... 2-0 up and im thinking, wait a minute. Could we actually do the great escape! But I didn't even have chance to answer that question as the team decided to press the self destruct button. We hardly score so when we actually do score, you would think we would do everything we can to protect that lead. But no. How many times do we immediately switch off after scoring a goal and concede within 90 seconds? I've lost count this season. Then all of a sudden, the oppositions tails go up and we go into defensive mode, which gifted them the 2nd. After that, there was only going to be a matter of time before they win. And surprise surprise.... the obvious happened. Suicidal defending once again and getting 1st team players suspended will not help the chances of surviving relegation. You know I was against Barton for his anger issues and he hasn't really proved himself eitheras a manager. But I actually now feel sorry for him as I don't think any manager would save us from relegation anyway.
Disappointing after such a dream start, but hardly surprising the way our season has gone! Looking at the table, not too much harm done position wise, we are joint top of a mini league of 6 still, 4 of which will drop down BUT - only 3 points separate all 6 teams, and Wimbledon have a game in hand on everyone else. Every game is going to be absolutely crucial now with no room for error, which doesn't bode well for our catastrophic defending and missed chances up front. 11 games to go - going to be a nervy ride, I think!!
Just thinking about my previous post, it suddenly dawned on me how amazing it is, that despite having had such an appalling season, with points thrown away like confetti week in, week out, managers coming and going like they're in a revolving door, and after 35 games (most of which we were dross), and yet we are still above the dreaded dotted line. Perhaps just somehow, we will survive!
Hi, Apologies for intruding on your forum. I was at the match as a photographer yesterday, having done some work for Charlton's Academy they had a space which I very gratefully took up. I usually do Academy/non league matches and I write a blog about the games I get to. I've done one on Bristol Rovers a few years ago actually, in a pre-season friendly at Corinthian-Casuals. Anyway, I thought I'd post it in here in case it was of interest to anyone. All the best for the rest of the season. https://thegrassrootstourist.com/2021/03/17/charlton-athletic/ Regards, GRT
Just thinking about your previous post, it suddenly dawned on me how amazing it is, only 7 years ago Rovers won away at Wycombe 2-1, singing and dancing around Muller Road 'the gas are staying up'. No way they were going to lose against Mansfield and at the same time Northampton and Wycombe pull off massive victories.....
Yes I know you were, if the boot was on the other foot, we'd be doing exactly the same . By the way, I wouldn't bank on us not going down, just yet. Give it another 4 or 5 games before risking your mortgage money on it!
