I'm sure Speakman and KLD will have discussed this at length, and kept Johnson aware of what is happening. Most of the players will understand that until we know which League we are going to be in, it's not possible to finalise contracts, but they need to be reassured that this will be addressed as soon as our situation is known.
I'm not aware of that, but I hope you're right mate, as it lets the players know what the clubs stance is going to be, and avoids uncertainty in their minds 'on whether a team mate has been offered a new contract when I haven't'. Some will naturally be worried about what lies ahead, but a lot of them have done themselves a few favours over the last six weeks, by playing as well as they have. If we don't sign them, it's likely other clubs will.
Have to say I agree completely. As a club we look to be “going places”. If you don’t want to be part of the ride then the door is open for you to leave!!
If we got promoted and he moved on it could be a blessing in disguise. I'm not convinced hes a top championship playerr and we can find better
He says it’s up to the club. https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...land-future-amid-contract-uncertainty-3167662
I know it won’t be popular to say this at the minute because he’s banging goals in for fun, but I still don’t rate him and even more important I don’t thinks he could progress with the club. I’m chuffed he’s scoring at present but I’ve been critical of him before this run and despite his obvious improvement recently, I think we need to move him on and replace with better. That needs to be the way from now on. They stay if they can progress with us but loyalty shouldn’t mask limitations. There are obviously a couple of exceptions to this ie Onien, Willis, Sanderson etc but if we can upgrade, I don’t see any reason not to
I thought a while back you said you were Hank ? Maybe I'm gerrin senile. Sure @Smug in Boots was on at the time
this is what Kryil has come in to stop i hope, what's the point, we need to get Maja back as well, we are the biggest club outside the premier league so why would Charlie want to move ? we better be going for Toney for starters in the summer, i will expect that now.
It's easy to link our players with Boro these days. We're a division below and for any player out of contract that's settled in the area, it's a no brainer. He has improved massively in recent months so is a player I'd have liked to stay one more year. LJ seems to improve players, begs the question, and answers it in the same pondering was Grigg a lost cause from the off? Because Lee is getting some kind of tune out of all of the players, but chose to send Grigg out on loan. Further to that, if the wage cap wasn't in place at the time of the transfer window, would Grigg have stayed and improved?
Jimmy Greaves is right. It IS 'a funny old game'. This time last Season most of our Fans would have paid to get Boro to take him. If Warnock is the one behind this story, and HE rates Charlie, we should be impressed.
Possibly. But, as he’s in the best form of his life because of the team and setup, it’s not necessarily the case that he’ll just automatically want to go to Boro. If LJ wants him here and we are in the championship (which I think we will be) there is no reason fir him to want to go anywhere else
