https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...news/hull-city-eyeing-brandon-ormonde-5189567 Have to get bigger shirts for all the double-barrelled names we'll have.... Lewis-Potter Ormonde-Ottewill Useless-Eaves
Fleming is a good challenger for Elder, Clark will do as back up if he’s as good as he was under Slutsky.
Just been reading about Alfie and the extra year we hold on him, I think we are trying to tie him down to a longer contract, we’ll we had better be bloody good footballer that lad. I cannot understand why 3 idiots voted no !!! Are you three ****ing stupid or do you not understand football? Morons. IMO he’s been a find...
Jones has done a better job in the Smallwood role than Smallwood has. Really impressed with Alfie Jones - Needs a long term contract.
I’d wait to see if we are promoted to see if he can do it at Championship level. Activate his one year extension, see how he gets on. Otherwise we run the risk of him struggling and having him for three years.
But don’t forget - ‘He’ll never do it at the next level’ was always levelled at Hull City greatest number 4. Jones has been the unsung hero this season.
Part of a different master plan. We are going to buy up as many players with double barrelled surnames, because once we get back to the Prem, the vogue amongst the luvvies there is to call such players by their first name only. As if we all know them personally, you know, like Trent and Dominic yah. We tried it a few years ago with Jan and it seemed to work.
I’m not saying he won’t, just that it’s a financial risk if he can’t. And we aren’t about taking risks given how razor thin our margins are.
The risk of losing him for nothing in a year, is bigger than the risk of giving him a new deal, it would be crazy to not be discussing a new deal with him.
He’s proven what he can do albeit at this level & appears to have settled here & fitted in well to the team / club. No reason to suggest he wouldn’t perform next season and be one of several younger players the club can build a solid team around, to at least hold their own in the Championship. The risk might be going for someone else who does not do the above and we are stuck with a dud.
Revenue in The Championship c£7m, revenue in League 1 c£1.7m. The bigger financial risk is in not getting promoted, Alfie has done brill and we should be trying to agree a longer term deal plus I'm of the view that any deal salary wise could potentially be offset with a transfer fee should he depart post a longer term deal hopefully being agreed.
You could build a quality team around Jones and the rest we have. I only hope that the Allams don’t do what they do every season where we end having to sign a load of players due to sales or lack of contract negotiations. Some stability would be nice.
Is that to see what division we are in? I expect he was sold the move with the promise of Championship football.
