I think I know what the problem is with the players.

There’s no aggression and no passion at all.

Take Joelinton for example. He’s been playing ok but he’s lacking that bit of spark.

Is the problem that Wor Steve can’t motivate them because they are a bunch of pansies.

There’s not one player on the pitch doing any actual shouting at players or anyone trying to spur things on.

Steve just stands there on pitch side blowing bubbles and licking his lips.

    Anyone else think this?

Yes, and it's because his warm & cuddly management simply doesn't demand that. There's no place for it in the modern game, you don't need to be mates with these players, they come and go at will so relationships aren't worth a ****ing thing.

Nice guy Bruce is just pointless. When GJones was there shouting and cajoling, we were better, and since he's been pushed back again by Bruce we've took foot off the gas.

He's been one of our best players the passed month.. OK the bar is low there, but he's one of the 1st players on the team sheet for Brighton.

If his confidence creeps up and he starts shooting I think he could be ok on the future.

He cannot strike a ball with his left and unfortunately on the right those chances are landing on his left peg.

A plague upon you for insulting the Joey!

Joelinton is one of the very few players we have who actually looks like he's interested and gets stuck in and actually looks like he gives a ****. Not only that he clearly has strength and talent.

The problem is he ain't a lone striker and can't play there, but as a no 10 he's awesome. The lack of goals don't tell the whole story about Joelinton.

I agree he's been trying. I agree he's not a number 9. I agree he's done ok of late in comparison to his teammates.

He's **** though. His touch and clumsiness cannot be solely down to confidence. He's just not a proper footballer. He has zero culture to his play, and is the least brazilian type of player we own. I've tried to be patient but at best, he is a championship standard player. I think I may be being overly generous there but I'm in a good mood. The straws I hear our fans now clutching at is solely down to a long term dampening of expectation in my opinion.

    Each to their own though.

Championship he'd be ****ing useless. He'd look decent in the Turkish, Dutch or Belgian first division.

I'm going to disagree slightly.. I've seen him do some very skillful things recently... I firmly believe that confidence is huge.... That little buy of fear and doubt at the highest level or any level tbh leads to errors.

I think there is a player in there I've been encouraged recently, but his desire to want to score doesn't even seem to be there and I think he's afraid to even try.

I can say right now he offers more than Andy Carroll or Dwight gayle though.

Yes he's definitely skillful, and even though he may not get goals, it doesn't mean he doesn't have skill. He's excellent at holding the ball up, strong enough to go on runs, and shows plenty of neat flicks and passes.

If he was short of confidence he wouldn't do any of the above, we just have to realise he's a very decent team player instead of the goal getter we want him to be.

Carroll does **** all when he comes on apart from give away fouls and gets booked, and Gayle hasn't looked like he's bothered for a long time.

It looks like Wilson and Maxi may be back for the Spurs game, so we've just gotta try to get through vs Brighton.

Almiron shouldn't be risked until after Brighton either.. Let's just see If we can scrape through the Brighton game, stzy out the bottom 3 and hope we've got our best players fit and ready for the run in.

If we have all 3 fit and Manquillo back who's to say we can't get something from West ham and Tottenham?

Have to say Dwight Gayle is far better than him. Carroll I accept though is also just a body. He's not really of any use.

Probably best to just agree to disagree on Big Joe, if that is what qualifies as skillful at Newcastle now then I can't get my head round it. I think of technique and skill, he is near the bottom. HBA, Cabaye, Ginola, Beardsley, Speed, Solano, Shearer, Robert, Sellars, Cole, Albert, Asprilla - so on and so forth. These guys had technical ability, the way they address a football, the culture when moving/passing the ball, when running with it, the touch when receiving it etc. Honestly Joelinton's technical levels are very very poor. He's got the touch of Rolf Harris. And not in the artistic sense.

Would also add balance.to that list. Each named had it and Joey doesn't. He isn't playing badly because his confidence is low. He's playing badly because he's just not good enough.

He may be playing well currently but that is well for him and not well as by PL footballer standards.

For it to be a battle, we have to be putting up a fight. Cabbage head neither has the bottle nor the nous for this. We won't recover straight away either. This is going to be a giant mess. We will end up like Sunderland
