Here's something to mention: the other day LadyC mentioned the scenes they had in Greece, where some people were gathered in a public park and then the police barged in in the way the Greek police tend to do and arrested the lot of them So it took less than a week for it to be impossible to say that at least our police aren't as bad as the Greek force are notorious for - and the one thing that can be said in the Greek's favour is their state broadcaster didn't manipulate the footage to make it look like the people getting ****ed up were the ones who started it, which the BBC have already done for last night
Michael Gove's wife doing her bit for unity... On the subject of victim blaming, here's the Met with a statement... And here's the BBC doing what they always do and siding with the police, with their editors hard at work showing clips out of chronological order
Nice to know that statues have more rights than people do Also nice to see the default defence of hiding behind Churchill is still holding strong
I have heard that the Iranian authorities wouldn't allow UK representation because they do not accept she has joint nationality. They are treating her as an Iranian citizen, in terms of access to diplomatic resources. Clearly she is being used as a pawn by them because of her UK links, so it doesn't wash, but I think that is their justification.
If that was the case you would imagine the UK Gov might want to mention that to make themselves look less like heartless incompetents!
Following on from this humiliation, Julie Burchill's week doesn't get any better. How can she top yesterday's debacle? Well, today she had to fire her publisher for being a Nazi! Stirling Publishing is run by Tabitha Stirling, an Edinburgh-based director of the small outfit. Turns out that she also calls herself Miss Britannia and blogs under the motto, "Always on the White Side". Her purity was called into question by her fellow Nazis, as her company released a book about mental health and people of colour. Her reply: The JQ that she refers to is the Jewish Question. PA is Patriotic Alternative, the political outfit of Mark Collett, former chairman of the Young BNP, who starred in Channel 4's Young, Nazi and Proud. This is him with his former girlfriend Eva van Housen aka Jenna Smith, who has a delightful tattoo of a Swastika: please log in to view this image
