For the first time in following the lads (exception being Bob Murrays building of the SoL) for over 60 years, through thick and even thinner times, I can finally see the semblance of a plan and a sustainable route forward being laid for our Clubs future. Its taken a 23 year old lad to recognise whats been needed for donkeys years... 100% behind KLD
I understand how you feel and I’d probably be p!ssed off about it as well, just seems a shame that your old man should miss the game he obviously enjoys due to some jobsworth.
it is a shame, he's almost 95 now and football has been a big part of his life. as he says, the only ground he's been thrown out of and it was his own clubs.
I can understand why you are rightly pizzed off with the club.... If you have kept a 'scrapbook' as it were, of your earlier efforts and the clubs response send it to the new management and then publish their response?
it would be the clubs lack of response, as we got nothing from them at all. only time they responded was when we asked for a refund on season cards. everyone said at the time, get in touch with Stewart Donald this will be great publicity for him if he sorts it out. never heard a thing from him.
That's your choice mate and it's understandable, I'm sure you're not asking anyone to come out in solidarity. To be honest, it's not the same club and I'm sure the new people would be receptive to a message. I've been kicked in the teeth by the club, over the years, but this is a new era. Nothing has ever stopped me supporting the club, not away fan bans, hooligans with knives or the club itself. After decades of mediocrity, at best, I'm not missing out on this.
as you say sir, it's my choice, and if this was the way they could treat a man who in his younger days used to walk from Blackhall to Roker Park as he only had the money for the bus one way. then i don't want anything to do with them, the last new regime weren't interested and dad is now basically housebound, so he couldn't attend now even if he wanted to. as a mark of respect to him, i won't go back. but i'll be gutted to miss out on seeing us in the champions league in the future.
I can't argue with that mate. I'd personally choose to believe it would be a mark of respect to continue his years of support. But, as you say, we're all different.
exactly, we are all different that's what makes us who we are and if we were all the same, we would be like Geordies, and we all know what they are like.
apologies for that sir, i obviously meant the great unwashed who follow the back and whites, and not the many sensible ones of the red and white persuasion.
I renewed my two cards last season and got called an idiot on here. I just took the stance that people can do what they want with their lives, it's got nothing to do with me, likewise my choices have nothing to do with them. My reason was that I support Sunderland AFC not the owners and would hate to see the club left with no income whatsoever. I am looking forward to season cards going on sale, I reckon we will easily beat the 24000 sold in our first season down here.
I would love to get a season card and go regularly like I used to with the old man before he passed. Unfortunately it’s not practical in my job as I’m on call 2 weeks out of 3 but the wife can see how excited I’ve been over these last few months with everything that has happened and we plan on going to a few games when supporters are allowed back. You can’t help getting excited by what the future holds for us now.
I've never lived closer than Mansfield and have never had a season card despite sometimes going every game in some seasons. Because of my work, etc, I've just never felt I could guarantee going and away games are often easier. Sometimes, while living abroad, I've only managed the SOL half a dozen times. Support isn't down to having a SC imo, it's just a frame of mind.
I lived and worked in London for years, it is amazing how many away games are played in and around London.
Spot on, I couldn’t buy a season card for years, either because I played football on Saturdays or since 1982, working every other weekend but I never felt any less of a supporter. In 2002 my weekends moved to one in every six so I got to most home games, then I realised paying £27-£35 for around 15 + home games a season was costing me a fortune and a season card would be much cheaper. My last two season cards have cost me £300 as an over 65, so great value whichever league we are in. Edit: I am a dopey bugger, they cost me £230
