Anything is better than American "Chocolate". Personally I also can't stand these **** in a box things either. please log in to view this image
If you avoid palm oil and dairy products then you get properly nice chocolate like Green & Blacks 70%
Mars, Nestle, Mondelez (formerly Cadbury's) all use rubbish ingredients If you must go mainstream, go Lindt. That kid in Trinity Market is the bollox locally- as good as any equivalent in Belgium https://www.cocoachocolatier.co.uk/
Cadbury tastes ****e now. Definitely has an oily feel and taste to it. Mars still tastes alright though has definitely gone down. Probably the best of the 'major' chocolate companies. Lindt's the ****ing bomb though. Hershey are the absolute worst apart from Reeses, which are superb in almost every form.
I & younger sibblings plus friends always popped in that shop with stinging red eyes for a bag of broken biscuits, a bag of crisps & a breadcake too munch on the 76 (i think!) bus back home 'Graham Ave on Hessle high road...happy days
Chocolate Orange is probably my favourite chocolate, but Terry’s was bought by the Frogs and is now made in Strasbourg. American chocolate is made from dog tod. FACT.
American chocolate tastes crap because it contains butyric acid, which is also found in vomit and some cheeses. When Hershey invented his milk chocolate, he treated his milk differently to how it’s done over here, and it effectively fermented and formed the chemical. Which explains how no one on this side of the Atlantic can stomach the stuff because it really does taste of puke and mouldy socks. And Americans think the taste is what chocolate should taste like to the point other manufacturers actually add butyric acid into their recipe.
All chocolate made for hot countries could be sent the the centre of the earth and it still wouldn’t melt, Galaxy is like that, disgusting.
With Hershey chocolate, I always feel like am not the first to have eaten it. Well, I felt like that the first time, obviously not repeated.
Those Lindt chocolate balls wrapped in red and silver - the best chocolate ever. Can clear a box of those in half an hour. Bars of chocolate - Tony’s Chocolonely is ultra premium and excellent. Far better than Mars/Nestle/Cadbury and the company actually has some really good principles. It’s worth looking at the site below - The chocolate is a 10/10 product. https://tonyschocolonely.com/uk/en
Can vouch for Tony's Chocolonely too. First had it about 3 years ago in one of their original stores in Amsterdam, so was really glad when they came to the UK. Almond/honey & Caramel/sea salt are the two best ones, imo.
It’s the flavour contrast. Sounds awful, but surprisingly works very well. Sweet and salted popcorn is also a great combination.
I always get the 85%, prefere the extra cocoa content, i always stock up when its on offer at Sainsburys as i go through at least a bar a week.
