Just before Todd's goal, Emi sees the opportunity for the tackle from about 15 yards away. Great anticipation from him.
That tackle snuffed out a break and then he turned it into the winning goal with a cracking through ball to Cantwell who produced a suitably cracking shot for the winner - great stuff!
Unfortunately this now explains why Emi puts in risky challenges - I had hoped he might be banned from attempting to ‘win the ball’ - so yes - yesterday this was outstanding - but I hope he chooses his moments this wisely in the crucial run in games!
Yes, I had a lump in my throat when I saw him closing in for the tackle but he timed it perfectly and then knew exactly what he wanted to do with it.
I can't disagree about the chanciness, Oxcanary, but the way Emi snuck around the Sheff player then pounced to take the ball away was a joy to watch. Followed of course by the pass and Todd's world class, left-footed goal. I'm glad I got to see that.
Importantly, the ref, Mr Harrington, was the closest person to the incident, perfectly placed to see exactly what happened when Emi put in the tackle. No question of raised feet, studs showing, or a dangerous, uncontrolled, off the ground lunge.
