All the best for a full recovery Kaits. Can only agree with your doctor's view that it will take years to come up with solutions, so much unknown about the virus and it's mutations it's going to be an ongoing battle.
I'm staggered a lot of countries are suspending use of the AstraZeneca vaccine. All experts have said there is no evidence the vaccine causes blood clots. As a result countries are letting supplies of the vaccine go to waste. At this rate the UK will have vaccinated its entire population before some countries have even vaccinated half of theirs.
Yep absolutely bonkers, so far over 15m Oxford vaccines have been administered. https://www.theguardian.com/comment...-oxford-vaccine-blood-clots-data-causal-links
Just had a similar convo with a work colleague in the US. He is in Florida and basically the state is open for business as if there is no pandemic. Only about 10% of Floridians have been vaccinated too. There is no much misinformation out there that so many are missing out on the jab.
Mrs No 7 is having her Jab today (in 2 hours actually) and she was really worried about it. Luckily yesterday when we were walking the dogs we saw one of the nurses from our surgery and she put her mind at rest. She said the same as that article - The law of averages says that 1 in x million people will have a side effect to a jab - even if it is jab that has had 8-10 years of testing. There is zero evidence to show that the Oxford Vaccine is causing any blood clots whatsoever, and in fairness the stats show fewer people than you would expect from a sample of 15m people (who have not had the jab) experience blood clots.
I expect those who have blood clots are all asked the same basic questions, including questions about their general health and if anything different has happened in their life recently. When the answer comes back, “oh I had the AZ vaccine” conclusions are jumped to with the vaccine becoming the main suspect instead of one of many suspects. I would imagine that many blood clots are now due to people living a more sedentary lifestyle and not exercising enough. DVT is quite often associated with long flights and immobility so maybe this is happening in some cases, where people have become inactive.
I wonder what political party the governor of Florida is? Florida and Texas have many old people due to the nice weather and unfortunately mini trumper leaders. Dangerous places to be.
I’m very pleased he has come out and said that. Perhaps those morons in the Republican Party who are resisting the vaccine on purely political grounds will listen to him.
What age range are we at now? 50s? Last time I went to the doctors was 2015 to get some vaccinations for a trip to Africa. Registered to a local doctor just so that I make sure I definitely get the vaccine when it comes down to my age bracket, but suspect it will still be several months until it's my turn.
I am half German and I am actually pretty embarrassed by that country right now. Usually Germans are the most logical people but this covid thing is all about a German's most terrifying word: nationalism.
