... for automatic promotion? It's not the highest team we have left to play and three points would be massive. A win would also be the icing on the cake of our Wembley win. We've been exorcising various demons this season with yesterday, Portsmouth, Burton, etc. The next one should be our 'after the Lord Mayor's show' hoodoo which has happened all too often. Yesterday was wonderful but we don't want that lovely trophy tarnished by a loss.
All our games are must wins if we want automatic promotion. Hopefully the players were mindful of keeping mentally and physically fit after slaying 'the Wembley Jinx' and did not partake of alcohol (or very little). Flanagan was i think the only injury..? We played poorly and won, Maguire was off form. So was Gooch for 92 mins and 45 seconds the other 15 secs he scored a great goal. LJ will undoubtedly bring Sanderson back.. and a few others (Jones injured ) Winchester? Pity Neil did not get on the pitch yesterday. Then there is the new striker that nobody has seen.
I don't think we got out of 2nd gear yesterday and looked a bit leggy but that's understandable with the amount of games we've had. I thought Diamond looked great and he spread the game. I would have given Benji a run for the last 5 or 10 mins just to run at them. The bench is getting stronger week by week and there's a lot more competition. The players look as though they are loving life at the minute but as already being said every game is a must win game.
Agree , we have to keep up the pressure on the teams around us as their is still a lot of football to be played . Some strange results at the weekend helped us but we have to help ourselves first and foremost , the size and quality of our squad is starting to pay dividends , on we go to Accrington with more players back from injury .
Such a strange season, no nerves at all for yesterday. Yet, each time I look at the fixture list I get a cold sweat on. Each game at a time, but the next two are massive games for us.
We've got a decent record at Accrington and they have hit a sticky patch at present, only one win in 6 iirc. Thing about yesterday was after the match Appleton the Lincoln Manager was almost waving the white flag for the match next weekend, unless he was only kidding He was bigging us up big style.
Agreed mate. To be fair they all are, but in reality it’s really important that we beat the likes of Accrington, Lincoln, Posh and Hull to hurt them and give us the breathing space for an odd slip up elsewhere.
Can't believe we still have THIRTEEN games left. Still close to a third of the season. Every game is must win now but we mustn't panic at any slip ups. There is still so much time left.
A repeat of the 3-0 win we had at Accrington after the 2019 final would be perfect. 6 points from next 2 games and we might just be in the top 2 (for the first time since 9th April 2019
We've done amazingly well to pull the gap back. After the Shrewsbury game we were 11 points behind Lincoln. Got to keep it going now, but luckily the Peterborough and Hull games now become "must not lose" rather than "must win". Automatic promotion is in our hands
Absolutely It all changes so quickly. Two games ago people were saying Peterborough looked like running away with it. Now they've lost their last two games and if they lose to Pompey and we win in mid-week, they drop out of the automatics.
Whilst all games are must win, the game on Saturday is much bigger than Wednesday. The games against the other teams around us almost count as double headers.
Some people get upset if you mention 'six pointers' for some reason, must be pedantic I suppose. A win against Lincoln obviously gives us three points and deprives them ... ... as @ab65 said that gives us more room for a slip up elsewhere.
Suppose it depends on the other teams keeping the pace up. 15 games to go for us. If we can get some of those draws turned into wins, and there are signs we are, and win ten of those games that's 90pts. Maybe lose three in the effort and draw a couple? Big ask, but they really look up for it now, something I haven't been sure of until the recent changes. I'd take 92pts and of we can get over yesterday and win on Wednesday that's a big step.
A Barton inspired Bristol Rovers might be trickier than it appears at first glance for example. I remember last season they were getting beat by 3 and 4 goals in the games leading up to us going there and we got battered. Admittedly that was under Parkinson and they had Clarke Harris up top but it’s still a potential banana skin. Hopefully we just keep winning.
13 games i think... win on Wednesday and Saturday (Lincoln).. and see where we are. Peterborough play tomorrow and we have yet to play them and Hull... in effect every game is a must win... a cup final from.now till the end of the season LJ is going to earn his corn as they say, keeping the team sharp and focused We were poor yesterday but won... long may it continue
I think our squad depth will see us home. Wright and Sanderson to come back, Jones missed out yesterday, Winchester plus the new striker to ease the burdon on the goat. Happy days
