I played in a couple of ding dongs against Gravesend & Northfleet. They won our league one year to go up to the conference. Hot bed of good non-league football down there. There was also Margate (with Bad Manners) and Sittingbourne too.
Win tomorrow and we can march imperiously into the spring, and survey verdant prospects; if vanquished, we join the wretched debased hoard fighting for meagre provisions in a pitiless and sunless land. We must steal ourselves - and do something against our laudable and civilized spirit - and fell Brighton's bandaged clawing hands free from our boots. These, after all, are not our neighbours. They would do to same to us. Ship's Log. 13th March 2021
Sorry to hear about this Lovelocum. Am the same age as you and my dad passed two years ago. Just know that he had a good life and would have been proud of you. Be strong for the rest of your family.
Nothing like the spectre of a relegation fight (Ger: abstiegsterror) to inspire some bleak poetic imagery!
Matchday! I think we'll have the traditional Saints promotion period 3-1 today. Currently 37/1 on Betfair, I've lumped a massive £1 on it. When I'm living it high on the hog with the winnings, don't go complaining that I didn't tell you. Vin
Sincere condolances LL. My father passed away for years ago and l too miss going to watch the Saints and the Spitfires with him. He would have been 90 today.
Match Day! Pretty confident today, I think Vin's bet is a solid one. 2 for Adams, one for young Tella to break his duck. Consolation for Maupay.
With our best back four in place with Diallo and JWP in front of them I can see a clean sheet, 2-0 Saints Che and Big Vester to score.
Nice to see a bit of confidence on here; let’s not underestimate the opposition though. They’re not Sheff Utd, they’ll make it very difficult for us and this could be a frustrating afternoon. I share the general confidence though, think we’ll scrape it, just.
Oh they're a good team, no doubt. But we forgot that we're a very good team when we have most of our players fit.
Not really sure how I feel about this one. Brighton have just 26 points for a reason, yet pretty much every time I've watched them I think they have played pretty well! They certainly didn't deserve to lose to us in the reverse fixture, if anything I'd have said they slightly edged it. Yet as others have pointed out, with our strongest side (which we almost have) we are a bloody good side too. So I am going to remain firmly seated on the fence a s predict a tight 1-1 draw.
