Well done to Nigel and the lads on a good win. Inconsistency seems to fit the bill every time we go out on the pitch and let's hope our new man in charge can fix the probllems.
Don't think it was RP but somebody said when Palmer was coming back from Swansea "if we have to rely on Palmer we are f****d".
I’ve been really impressed with Palmer since Nige became manager where as previously I thought he was a flair player only. HNM was my MOM today but Palmer and Semenyo ran him very close.
Steady lads, Birmingham are by far the worst side we've played in a long time. Palmer was greatly relieved to see the ball come back off the City post. After that let off he was arguably the best player on the pitch. Pearson deserves all the plaudits today, a great set up and instilling a will and positive attitude in each player. The most important signing Lansdown's made in the last 5 years. Needs to be confirmed before another club comes calling.
Palmer for me by a country mile, was great going forward, always a goal threat and great defensive work. HNM had a great 2nd half but was in and out in the 1st. Semenyo was a handful all day, to be honest I would play him exclusively up top down the middle in place of Diedhiou who still struggles to hold the ball up or stay on his feet, Semenyo not only has better balance but is stronger and has more energy.
The same Birmingham who beat us comfortably in December, a team who could not buy a win and if I recall we never had a shot on target.
Why would Palmer need to be relieved? the first time they hit the post Hunt was a mile out of position and the 2nd time Hunt failed (again) to cut out a cross.
Semenyo is better wide as his speed allows him to burst into the centre. For someone who is fast he has this ability to accelerate mid flight that scares defenders. Just look at his two league goals keepers can’t judge his turn of pace and puts them under pressure quickly. But he does have better control than Diedhiou. Would not be surprised to see Watkins take Diedhiou’s place soon. He looks like he’s lost a bit of weight as well, but then he’s been playing regularly prior to his injury instead of bit parts.
Agree, except Palmer MOM , marginally ahead ahead of HNM and Semenyo. if Semenyo can develop a calm head around goal he’ll be one hell of a player
