Condolences to you. As others have said remember the good times, and don't blame him too much for the lifetime of pain he has given you since 1989. In all seriousness, I'm sure he will look out for you from up there, and as Dave said, chat away to him, he may be gone from here but not from your heart. .
Thank you. Although I don’t really know anyone on here it feels good to write it down. Haha true, but it was 6 year old LL who suggested going. Kids at school we’re talking about Mat le tiss and Shearer, he went straight out and bought season tickets. It’s hard being an atheist at times like that.
Just had a look on a Brighton forum to see what they were thinking about the game. They are mostly feeling very negative about it and their chances, but the thing that I found weirdest is that they all seem to be calling us Stains. I haven't seen any animosity like the Bournemouth lot try and force, but still found it weird that so many of them have a derogatory nickname for us.
We used to call them ****ehawks back in the 80s and there was a little bit of a rivalry back then and there was the Nige/Poyet thing back in League One of course.
So sorry to hear it. The only condolence I'm able to offer is that the pain does fade. Not immediately and not completely but it's a sign of love that it doesn't do either. Vin.
Really sorry to hear that . My condolences. I lost my Dad 2 years ago . His body may have gone , but the memories never will . Hope we get 3 points for him .
My deepest condolences. FLT is absolutely right. Talk about it, and allow yourself to be shocked and thoroughly pissed off about it. My dad was long gone by the time you were trooping along to watch Saints for the first time. I talk about him with my kids, who barely knew him, and now my grandchildren get the odd story - including his horror when I 'came out' as a Saint. Dad was Pompey through and through and had run away from his home in Eastney to join the Royal Marines during WWI. Memories do replace the hurt, my friend. My old man still gives me many a laugh.
Having a rival is vital. Our rivalry with Pompey helps define us both - I just wish the horse punchers could recognise that it's meant to be a laugh. Evertonians frequently refer to "The ****e" when talking about Liverpool, but if Liverpool FC were to suddenly vanish they'd be gutted. Poor old Brighton haven't got an obvious rival, so try to find one. They're like a kid who notices that someone's best friend has moved and sidle up to ask if they can be their new friend. Brighton are noting the absence of Pompey and trying to muscle in. It won't work, any more than Bournemouth's pathetic attempts to do the same. 'My Old Man said be a Brighton fan....'. Nah. That'll never work.
We are overlooking one obvious cause: It could be that Brighton fans are dyslexic, at least when it comes to teams above them in the table.
A grotty part of South East London? My word, people in Brighton have standards, dear boy. I know some Brighton fans, and they live in a place called Hove Actually. They certainly wouldn't want to be associated with Crystal Palace
