You planning on trying to get her there full-time or just a holiday? Either way it's very complicated. Even if its just for a holiday on her own the Visa people think that you are just going to keep her there when she gets there. We promised one of our ex-servants children that we would take her for a holiday in the UK but the visa has been rejected twice. I think they thought we were child trafficking even though we had permission letters from the parents, proof that I was coming back here with her afterwards to work etc. They rejected it because they said they had no proof that her Dad had a job (he works as a driver), the implication being that he might be desperate enough to let us take her for the right fee.

Presume your daughter doesn't have a UK passport, as it would then be straightforward either short or long term as long as Mum was okay with that.

I live on top of a hill so I reckon I'll be okay, but yeah, loads around here would get swept away. There was actually a Tsunami down here back in the 18th century, when an earthquake in Lisbon sent a Tsunami up the bay of biscay and a 10ft Tsunami wiped out loads of low lying areas on the south coast of Cornwall.

There’s a volcanic island in the canaries that is really unstable. They reckon that one day part of that island could collapse into the sea and send a massive tsunami which would hit cornwall and the south coast.

Apparently there was a big one here around 1000 years ago when an asteroid struck the sea. The resulting tsunami reportedly wiped out loads of villages and people in cornwall.

I think there’s some reference to it in the Doomsday book.

I've seen the maps, under rising seas levels, England would be almost wiped out, whereas Wales and Scotland would escape mostly unscathed. By which time, us little Englanders will need to reclaim the Union <laugh>

Lol, everybody will be digging out their Scottish and Welsh heritage and claiming asylum.

Sea levels are rising, can’t stop global warming now, the best we can do is try and mitigate how bad it will get. But loads of low lying areas around the world at at risk. And some South Pacific islands stand to disappear under the sea entirely.

Bit closer to home, the sea was wild down here yesterday. Wave buoys clocked 24ft open ocean swell. This is a shot from my mate Mike Newman who captured the power of that swell hitting the cliffs

Talking of Tsunamis. It's 10 years ago that the earthquake off the coast of Japan cause a massive Tsunami that slammed into Sendai
