As a couple of you have stated Ayling is on borrowed time in my eyes, Watkins then Benramha led him a merry dance over the last two weeks, Llorente sorted Watkins out and he didn’t like it, he also was drifting over to the right to help Ayling out at WestHam, so I think we need RB, LB a creative MF and a Striker.
Costa, Roberts and Harrison can go along with the obvious like Coco, Hernandez etc.
I fear for us on Saturday the German lad Werner might rip Ayling a new one, and if Giroud play’s Llorente will have his hands full and won’t be able to help Ayling out, let’s see.
One good thing is we don’t have to look at ferret faced Frank hahaha

The Ayling question is a actually a good question. When I think of “Bill” I see him flying down the wing supporting the attack and creating mayhem in the opposition box, maybe getting on the end of a chance or two. What I never see is his tackling and how effective or not it is. Does he chase back and rescue the team is he a sold defender?

I wouldn't say Ayling could ever be called a pushover defensively but it's inevitable that full-backs will be left looking daft sometimes under Bielsa's philosophy

Are we talking about the same Antonio? He's possibly the biggest lump I've ever seen play - and be really good at it.

Can't see us selling Forshaw. Who in their right mind would buy him. Come the start of the season, he'll either be playing himself fit in the u23s, going out on loan, or getting his insurance payout for being invalided out. I can't see any other reasonable option.

About to bowl you a googly. Don't blow up - think about it first ....

Anyone think Struijk could be trained to do Bamford's job? I can see it myself, when I compare him to Bamford. Admittedly I've never seen him in the role, but he seems to have most of Bamford's skills, plus he can head a ball! Not so sure about his goal-scoring prowess with his feet, but he wouldn't need a great deal of training to reach Bamford's strike / miss rate.

I've seen this done in Scotland. Bertie Auld converted his CH into a CF. Was the best thing that ever happened to Partick Thistle, who were a very attractive team in the top league at the time. The guy was called Colin McAdam (RIP), who became a cult figure nicknamed 'The Beast'. He was an absolute bulldozer & fantastic goal-scorer, so much so that Rangers made us an offer we couldn't refuse, & where he continued to devastate defences.

Brilliant almost has his Scottish Bielsa head on, a very good question and like Neil says its been done before. Remember the England and Sheff Wednesday CB that that was signed by Bkackburn as a striker to replace Chris Sutton.Shearer. Begins with W? But yes why not if you are Bielsa and thinking abstracts like he's done with Phillips. E has stuck with Bamford, he has made Klich our best midfielder for years and years if you go on consecutive games played. Klich was shyt according to everyone and then his first start under Bielsa saw a screamer and hes been first guy on the team sheet since, he saw Meslier as better than a Champions League winner, he saw Rodrigo as a midfeilder not as a 9, remember he also said he sees Raphinah as a No8, so why not but would expect Struijk to be playing up top for the 23s first

John Charles was a centre half until he moved to centre forward.

Going in the other direction from CF to CB was another one of your countrymen, Kenny Burns. Liked him as a defender when he was at Leeds. Hard bastard.

Yeah a right nasty fecker. My memory is ****e, but I'm sure I saw him play in a Milk cup match against Uddersfield back in the eighties. I think Frank Worthington and E.Gray were playing that day as well. We lost 1.0 on a freezing cold, wet and windy midweek match. :(

Weren't they all in those days?

Post-match routine now is an onfield warm-down, ice bath, massage, and so on, ad nauseam.

Then it was straight into a muddy common bath, splash of Brut & off to the pub, injured or not.

In general, I prefer football from that era, with a few exceptions - us, Bindippers, & Man City. Spurs too, pre-the special needs one. Have to say that the pretty boy is bringing up Wet Sham a few levels.

The pretty boy as a youngster. Pure fanny magnet, eh?

Yes Shaks obviously my memory’s ****e too <laugh> but I was at Highbury when Leeds played in an FA Cup replay (the tie that had to be replayed a few times) and the team had Burns, Gray, Worthington, and I think Aiden Butterworth up front.

Fooking freezing standing in the Clock End, snow driving into our faces <laugh>

Going back to the OP thinking about some of what Kinnear has said today:

"We want to sign players who’ve got a great development future as well,” Kinnear said on the club's transfer policy.

“I think you can see that with what’s happened in the U23s with Gelhardt, Greenwood and Drameh, who I think are all players who have the potential to have an impact in the first-team next season,” he added.

So if this is part of the plan we have a RB/RWB and 2 players who can do a Bamford and Rodrigo/Klich so could then afford to buy a very expensive top of the range midfielder a top LB/LWB and another striker

<laugh> I was only in Highbury once, I think it was another FA cup replay match and I think at that time the clock end was being modernised and they had boards up with crowd pictures on it.<ok>

I want to find his plastic surgeon!

Moyes is no great shakes now, but boy!, what a transformation from that! I could be our next Clooney lookalike - brace yourself, @LeeUtd

(That @ thing didn't work. Has Lee left us or has he changed his moniker?).
