Cardiff v Watford: Mick McCarthy has not only brought the Bluebirds soaring up the table since he took charge, but he has recently signed a new deal to keep him at the club for much longer than his initial contract. Cardiff had lost 6 on the bounce before he took charge and now they are unbeaten in 11. Nevertheless, they were fortunate not to lose to Huddersfield in their last outing. Cardiff are knocking on the play-offs door in the table. Watford, like their hosts, have no midweek game which might help with the injuries. One player who will return from suspension is Chalobah. Watford sit in second but teams below them with the ability to overtake have games in hand. Supporters will be keeping a keen eye on Blackburn as they play Swansea (with 2 games in hand and 1 point less) on Tuesday followed by other promotion contenders Brentford (with a game in hand and 3 points less) on Friday. Come on Blackburn do us a double favour! Coincidently, Watford's two last games are Brentford then Swansea despite 9 games still remaining before those. With the run that Cardiff have been on combined with the fine margins coming to the end of the season, this will be a pivitol game for the Golden Boy's promotion push. Depending on Blackburn's reults we could be back in 4th come kick-off on Saturday or able to cement second spot further. TEAM NEWS TO FOLLOW: ¡¡COYH COYH COYH!!
The result will define our run-in. a draw or win will boost our chances no end. That said, a defeat doesn't kill off automatic promotion but it won't help. Very keen to see the midweek results.
Out of action since January with a finger injury, goalkeeper Ben Foster this week began full training with the first-team squad. There will be late fitness tests for Dan Gosling and Achfraf Lazaar ahead of the Hornets’ visit to Cardiff City on Saturday
David Prutton predicts 2-2, for anyone who doesn't want to read it... https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/d...on-ahead-of-cardiff-citys-clash-with-watford/
Watford conceed 0.71 goals per game away from home whilst Cardiff conceed 1.12 goals per game as home. All the stats are in our favour. A draw I hope or a tight Watford finish I hope
I think we've now got to the part of the season where it's all about getting the result. Early on, I was more concerned with how we were playing, which is why I was worried under Ivic even when we were pretty high up the table. I think we're playing better football now, but I don't care if we're utter pony as long as we keep our momentum and pressure on Swansea and Brentford. Come on Cardiff, you wouldn't want us to lose and Swansea to go up in our place would you?!
Agreed.. .we have prett much clicked with a format that is now working.... so yes.. just grind out the results.... we know we can do it......
I think today is a HUGE game for us and could well be pivotal in our bid for automatic promotion. A win would be a massive psychological boost to us and retain pressure on Swansea and Brentford.
I have not found any when they are on Hive. They are sometimes advertised but are blocked when I have tried them.
