Seeing as we are playing Brighton next here are four songs that reference one of my favourite books and films, Brighton Rock...
With more time than I probably ought to have, I’ve been reminiscing over gigs we went to with a friend of mine. Doing a bit of research, I came across this site - it is brilliant for helping lift the fog from the memories of ancient gigs. This is one where I swear I was totally deaf for about 3 days afterwards ... https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-who/1971/southampton-guildhall-southampton-england-3bdf00b0.html
What a fantastic resource! Thank you so much Dave, I have just wasted about an hour looking up gigs from 40 or 50 years ago! Funnily enough I saw the Who on that same tour, on the second of 3 dates they played at the newly revamped Rainbow Theatre, formerly the Finsbury Park Astoria. It was my brother’s present to me for my 18th birthday, and a lot of newly-legal beer was also consumed that night!
You lads will probably love this site which has a massive database of live recordings which you can either stream from the site by clicking on MP3 or download by clicking on WMA. There is also a gig setlist too and I've checked Dave and there is a recording from 5 days after The Who's show in Southampton at Liverpool University and it is the same setlist! plus there are are a few other dates from that tour. https://ia800309.us.archive.org/30/.../Who1971-10-23LiverpoolUniversityUK.mp3?cnt=0 Here is the home page of the site with an alphabetical search facility....enjoy! http://tela.sugarmegs.org/
Cheers, SA. Looks like great stuff and (if I’m not careful) I’m likely to lose myself in it for a few days or weeks! Interesting that the set list is the same! I find that quite surprising, as I’d always think there would be a few different songs thrown in or, at least, done in a slightly different order ....
