On a similar line, who remembers Simon Mayo's 'Our Tune' stories?

    96

But depending on where you put the brackets it could be 36!

Rog, I think you should check that, here is an example from a maths website explaining the order of operations.
How do you calculate 2 + 3 x 7? Is the answer 35 or is the answer 23? To know the correct answer, one must know the correct order of operations with respect to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, etc.

    Rule 20:
Multiplication and division must be completed before addition and subtraction.
    2 + 3 x 7 = 2 + 21 = 23 is the correct answer to the above question.

however it clearly states that the examples shown of the equation do not use that rule, and if it should be used does not indicate that these rules apply, it should be so as to clarify for the general publics little bit of fun, If we have to go by rocket science rules then this cartoon makes the whole thing Ludacris. Thank you for understanding and for you're input mate appreciated :emoticon-0148-yes:

I do enjoy maths, and my first response would have been 96, however after consulting with my daughters I was corrected to the result of 36.
Maybe I am taking this too serious for the jokes thread.<laugh>

Never liked maths, especially when it came to why I had just a bit of shrapnel and a crumpled fiver on the table next morning after a session with the lads.. thinking how did a few scoops come to that!!:emoticon-0138-think

That's not maths it's the great beer bear, he probably wacked you round the head to cause the headache and threw all of your clothes around the floor, left some half eaten takeway on the lounge floor etc.
