    DOWN MEMORY LANE
    AFC Bournemouth 0-1 Bristol City
    Vitality Stadium
    Tuesday, February 26th, 2006
    League One
Phil Jevons headed his fifth goal of the season to give Bristol City their fourth successive victory.
Jevons found the net from Lee Johnson's left-wing cross after 70 minutes.
Leon Best had Bournemouth's best chance to equalise and snatch a point, but the on-loan Southampton striker could not turn the ball in from close range.
Substitute Danny Hollands tried to get Bournemouth back in the game, but his two long-range efforts went harmlessly wide and the Robins sealed the win.

Diedhou again showing what a donkey he is. He just doesn't work hard enough up top, he doesn't seem to read the game at all, he doesn't take up good positions and has the poorest touch of a CF I have seen in a long long time.

I knew we’d lose as son as Lansbury came on! , thought they just edged it, we looked knackered towards the end .

Diedhiou was back to his useless lazy self tonight. I was surprised he took Palmer off for Semenyo, I would have taken Diedhiou off all night long and twice on Sunday's.

Bakinson scored a great goal but boy was far too weak for their winner.

Our passing was off all night but at least we still got the ball forward and created a few chances, again always looking for the forward pass.

Please somebody tell me what Lansbury offers us?, he is absolutely shocking, most of his passes go straight into touch, a player still dining out on a few good seasons 4 or 5 years ago, waste of a wage so far.

Hunt was a shame, Pearson put Vyner who was playing well in midfield back to RB and brought Lansbury on.
Afraid Lansbury compounded the problem, very ordinary.
As a team we ran out of oxygen and legs culminating in Bakinson losing his man for their winner.
They have a far better bench than City to call on.
But hey, overall a great improvement over the last umpteen matches.

Probably a right result. We were second best pretty much all the game. Surprisingly how many second balls fell to Bournemouth. Don’t want to hear any blame for Bentley. How many points has he won us?

I agree, it was poor from Bentley, no doubt about it, but for me he’s in credit, so I can forgive an error.

Not surprising when there is no outlet up front. The ball goes up to Fammy who loses it 9.99 times out of 10, and then the ball comes back immediately, as the midfield are moving out to support, then they get turned over. Kalas hit the nail on the head after the loss to Barnsley, we don’t give our midfield and defence a chance.
Our midfield is a little weak still, but looking better, get in a striker who can hold the ball, and they will have a fighting chance. To me this has now become the No1 priority for NP in the summer.

Bentley has kept us in games where we should not have been and so a mistake from him is much more acceptable given his past. I still can't understand why Diedhou isn't long gone and perhaps Nige will soon see through his lack of just about everything and replace him in the starting line up. I am not too concerned about the loss because we aren't going to set the division on fire this season but it worries me as to whether our new manager will see enough potential to stay around and fix the ongoing problems rife throughout the squad. I never expected our new shiny leader to change the Bristol City world with one stroke but I can see where his longer term commitment would benefit the club beyond belief.

I just noticed that our shots and shots on goal have got better but it's a shame we have Diedhou to try and convert them in to goals which as the past few years have proved ain't going to happen.

Bentley has so much credit in the bank and mistakes happen.
I'm not getting why we keep starting Fammy, apart from defensive corner set pieces.. IMO much better coming on as a sub..
I imagine it was a good game for NP to see the flaws we have, it will give him a much better idea of what's required.
The aim now is to make sure we keep our championship status and start building for next season, anything else I believe would be a bonus..

I'm impressed with the positive & encouraging views coming from NP towards the team.......mmm I'm getting to like him!!

Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson told BBC Radio Bristol:

"It's funny how people have their views coloured by just the result. In terms of endeavour, positive intent, work rate and commitment (it was) fantastic.

"The two goals we conceded are avoidable, and that's a disappointment, we have to learn from those sorts of mistakes.

"The first one's a vicious strike, but Dan was magnificent at the weekend and I don't have to tell him that it's something normally he would deal with.

"Tyreeq for the second goal just loses his man, but some of the defending they did today, they were absolutely magnificent."
