Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington is to step down from his position after Tuesday night's final Euro 2012 qualifier against Italy.

Question is with a small selection of players and as Gerry Armstrong said, there is evidence that teenage players from the country are being approached to play for the Republic of Ireland, who would be willing to take the job on?

Sounds like fat Jim Magilton is favourite the job! I hope not- the peak of his managerial career so far has been steering Ip5w1ch to mid-table mediocrity in the Championship.

Well then we go got what we wished for Worthy leaving. As I've said before though with a small pool of lets face it not exactly top drawer players who do we want to come in? After another surrender on Friday night to the mightly Estonia i would settle for a team with a bit of fight through it so maybe its a man manager to motivate along with a good coach for the tactics. I dont buy into the iffy decisions excuses on Friday the game should have been dead an buried in the first half.
    Still onwards and upwards!

Nigel has a small pool of players but the poor performances of late coupled with the many withdrawal of players, suggest the players rightly or wrongly are not happy with him. Time for a change.

Nigel may have a small pool of players but when he continues to harp on about it before they even take to the field, what does that do to their attitude? What did his constant damage limitation selections and tactics do to morale? Well, in the end the players voted with their feet, never mind the fans. A defeatest attitude is very hard to shift and I don't envy the next manager, who has to repair the damage Nigel has done.
