I was happy to see Jones start mate, but it wasn't too exciting. I'm certainly not saying 'told you so' ... I'm sure he has a place but he just didn't grab it tonight.
That happened to me and I tried to coach my brain into avoiding over compensating ... ... didn't work and my subsequent injury was worse than the one I'd just got over
The squad we have us why I think we have a good chance this year mate. With us it isnt about the 11 that start but the 16 that play. Every week our subs make a big difference and change the course of the game.
The trouble is, these other pesky teams keep trying to avoid getting beat ... ... and it's really annoying.
Reasonably positive news on injuries: Gooch - not too bad McLaughlin - needs injection, will be monitored Leadbitter - wants to play through the pain Flanagan - back soon Wright - back soon Stewart - back soon I'd imagine all of them will be available for Wembley
Think another poster mentioned onien earlier but I really hope we get his contract sorted soon. I think the lads been a credit on and off the pitch since he’s been here. Hes a solid full back for this league and maybe even the championship imo and you couldn’t ask for much more from him at centre half especially along side a lad without a lot of experience and having to look after mcfadzean on the left side. I hope he can get a run in midfield eventually to show what he’s like in his actual position but either way his versatility and attitude is priceless.
I think a big thing about this result is that we won 1-0. Under Parkinson if we'd not got a second you could see the nerves creep in and the players thinking "here we go again", then generally get pegged back by a late one and have to struggle to hang on. Without playing brilliantly and putting the game to bed, and the opposition coming back into it to give us a hard time late on, we still held out to win. That's going to give us more confidence, which can really help later on as in tight games instead of us thinking we're going to get pulled back we can have the confidence to know we can hold out.
cheers again RTB... did not bother with a stream again so happy with another 3 points, but i got the impression that scowen and winchester were pretty quiet, could this be because they were covering the defence with it being very much 'make shift'? swindon were on a decent run and would have been full of confidence so this was never going to be as straightforward as some seemed to think and i admit to being more than a tad nervous when i saw the defensive line so kudos to the three of them, remember sanderson is still a young lad out on loan to get game time and the other two are out of position, i know onien tends to get all the praise but the trio have done a very good job. finally, burge...well done sir, like many i had doubts but he is another who appears to be improving week on week contributing with important (and good) saves, keep it up and i will be pleased to eat my words.
