For me this is about principles and that photo is just inexcusable. If there is no principle left in the sport which robustly punishes such an action then I’m afraid for it’s future.

Talking of principles, how sickly to see the O‘Leary brothers talking about it being a regrettable mistake by Elliott and they are sticking by him. I think them pulling all their horses from Mullins yard because he put the fees up shows exactly where their principles are.

They’ve withdrawn Tiger Roll from the GN so that’s one dodged for racing.

As a horse owner and lover and having experienced finding one of ours dead following a freak accident, with her daughter standing by looking lost, I find it impossible to express how distressing it is to see your horse lying there. The love and respect goes on long after the death and is a sad memory for ever. For me, what Elliott did was sickening and says a lot about him as a person. I find some of the comments on here very disturbing and will not be looking at this thread again

Therefore, Oddy, I know you are having a break from moderating but if this gets out of hand can you please do the honourable thing. Thanks

I could be totally wrong but from what I'm led to believe it only covers actions on course

And Irish Field comments by amateur jockey in the video. Highlighted the bit that for me is most startling.

To me, the fact it states that such behaviour doesn’t need to directly involve Horseracing means it applies off course. It’s like a company having a social media policy for its employees, their Tweets (or whatever) don’t have to relate to their job but if they post dodgy material they’re liable to sanction.

I'm only stating what a guy in the trade has been telling us about them rules. It covers on course only. The photo is taken on Elliotts gallops.

Could well be but according to what I've heard the non horseracing part would be getting pissed in the course bar afterwards and starting trouble or shoving Bolivian marching powder up your nose in one of the course bars

    Can I ask a serious question ?

From what I've seen and read it's mainly British horsey people screaming blue murder.

Could it be, that the Brits don't want Elliott and his 120 strong contingent coming over and sweeping all before them ?

I'm not disputing what you've been told, just applying what I know of the BHA Rules and how they function. Under BHA rules his training gallops would be considered a licensed property (as would any training yard, racecourse, etc) and therefore under BHA governance.

    <laugh><laugh><laugh>

As someone who has liabilities on Abacadabras and Envoi Allen amongst others it would do me a world of good if they came and won the races.

It could be seen the opposite way that the culture in the UK is different to in Ireland and that is why we are all appalled?

Quite frankly I think that's a ridiculous argument. Surely everyone wants as open a competition as possible - you can't claim to be the best if you don't take on the best.

And I've seen racing fans/employees from America, France, Britain, Ireland, Australia, Japan to name just a few condemn his actions. Trying to "blame it on the Brits" is just deflection, if this had surfaced in a British yard then I'd expect, and no doubt see, exactly the same levels of condemnation.

Nope... I want to see the best horses in the best races so the Irish are always welcomed and needed... Dosnt bother me if the Irish sweep all before them, just want to see tip top racing at it's best...

I would've thought his yard etc. would be under the rules too but the info I'm getting is contrary to that. Time will tell once the investigation is complete.
You must bear in mind Charles Byrnes only got 6 month suspension for doping which is animal cruelty. So if they can sanction GE my guess would be a fine

In that case you can quash the rampant rumours over here right now. Has Envoi been moved to HDB yard ?
