Cracking thread yet again RTB thank you, after reading your printout of the scores i see the teams we have both played they have the slightly better average, still fancy a win, and have gone for it, Just hope they come out of the blocks with all guns blazing ,score first and don't let up

Reckon it will be a narrow win for the lads. Hopefully I don’t get the same level of abuse as I did before the Crewe game for saying this, but Jones has to start. No excuses now.

Wolfy only has one fault he loves Sunderland too much, and it breaks his heart when he sees people pretending to play footie, any one he has ever criticised that has then come good he has put his hands up and admitted to the fact, Some people (not you mate)forget they have criticised a lot me included

Time for this team to put down a marker, make a statement. We need to give one a team a good thumping, might as well be Swindon.

Problem with our season though Smug is we said the same when Plymouth came to town ,hadn't won away from home and guess what, we've shot ourselves in the foot so many times fans accept its just the Sunderland way and LJ has to find a way of putting an end to it.

I was there. Wasn’t to know at the time that the outcome of the game actually didn’t matter in the big scheme of things.

You didn't get any abuse whatsoever, that's just nonsense.

You crave abuse and post in a way to attract it, hence your cringy avatar...

... but your pantomime villain routine has been done on here many times before, and you're just not that good at it.

Lots of supporters, at lots of clubs, think that mate, we think it's just us ...

... we all need to shake it off before it totally sticks I'm my opinion.

Newcastle supporters haven't celebrated at Wembley since 1955 and have been pretty useless when they've been since. They had both hands on the league title and let it slip at the death. They've recently been relegated twice and are going for a hat trick. They lost six times in a row to their bitter local rivals who were, at times, an inferior side. They had one of the richest men in the world put down a £17m takeover deposit which then all fell apart.

    Is that 'The Newcastle way'.

In any league campaign you'll have games that kick you in the teeth. Lincoln had 3 points at Plymouth, with 20 minutes left, and managed to end up with none. We have to assume we'll beat Swindon until proven otherwise. Some thought we were beaten at Crewe, but thankfully the players thought otherwise.

    I remember it well,
Never a fan of play offs. They finished above us and deserved to go up,.
I'd of took the play off win mind.
    But we weren't good enough.
Tony Norman was the best player on the pitch.

Getting promotion through the back door didn't feel right, and although I was pleased at getting there it felt hollow.
Going straight back down showed we weren't good enough and Better we went back as champions or 2nd at least.
We needed the right bloke in charge and we only had to wait a few more years for him.

I was there too. I had a built in hate for Swindon since then up until a few years ago when I did some work there and got to know a few of the locals. The Old Town part of Swindon has some great bars and restaurants.

I was there. Horrible trip. Dead hot, we were right at the front behind a fence, loads of flies and got totally outplayed. Cant imagine the bus trip was great either. Semi Final was loads better.

Well after Saturday, what will LJ do...

Presumably he will stick to one of the two formations that work best for us.

O'Brien is not a winger. Leads is out for a while.

I don't know if we have 2 or 3 CBs and whether or not 09 still has to fill in.

Are we going to have 3 at the back, with a couple of wingbacks, say Jones and Diamond/Gooch/Maguire CMs, Power/Scowen/Winchester ?

And 2 up front Wyke and O'Brien/Mcgeady

LB position and CB are problems. Wyke got very little service on Saturday. Maguire played well and deserves a start?

If we want to stay in the play-off positions or push on into automation promotion we cannot afford any more first halves like Saturday. Subs should have been made in the 1st half.

This won't happen but the idea made me smile.

I've noticed how aggressive O'Brien has become and how he always seems to be making clearing headers from our box. He has loads of energy and isn't easily roughed up.

I think he could do a 'Dave Watson' once Stewart is fit ;)

Comfortable 2-0 win I reckon - I think there may be a bit of early tension after Saturday's rollocking from LJ otherwise I'd go for 3 or 4. Can't see anything other than a home win - lets hope some of the other results go in our favour.
