Well Dave and Archers ... I’ve said it before And I’ll say it again Come to the Chapel And you’ll be among friends
Ralph thinks that we are a “little bit too nice” and talking about how other teams break up our attacks with fouls. So, who is going to get a red card for two yellows tonight? Or will Jankewitz try the more direct route to an early shower, again? Joking aside, if Jankewitz does start I hope he has learned his lesson and doesn’t let himself be over cautious, when tackling. I also hope the referee gives him a chance and doesn’t allow his red card at United to cloud his decision making. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/19124732.hasenhuttl-sometimes-important-bit-nasty/
Everton away. That venue that I love to go to until the game kicks off. I have written to the board every year suggesting that the team be given a rest and just concede the points. I think they were considering this until we got a draw there last season. Not going to happen again. I think the prediction from Lawro for 2-0 home win is generous. However, I still think it matters not. There are points to be won, as others have said. Just not tonight. Bloody glad we haven't got a cat. Poor sod would be black and blue again, I suspect.
I’ve been a regular in The Chapel since League One days, when it was the family stand. Never been noisy, granted, but the people we used to sit with during our progress up the divisions have gradually moved away - and we had to move nearer the front because my old dad’s legs won’t carry him up the steps anymore. increasingly, we are surrounded by more and more entitled and imo disloyal fans whose negativity shows in all sorts of ways, as soon as a pass goes astray. Same all over the stadium, I should imagine. The absolute nadir for me, was the shameful booing of a decent man, when Claude Puel led the team on their end of season lap of appreciation. Tbh, I’ve been questioning how I feel about the beautiful game ever since then.
The funny thing is he was the width of a goalpost away from being hailed as a hero by those same "fans".
You can only speak as you find, my friend. In the centre of the Northam I am surrounded by total basket cases if I'm honest. But the majority are there to a) support Saints, b) abuse the match officials c) abuse the away fans and most importantly d) to suggest that any player of worth on the opposition side likes to have sex with animals. Not necessarily in this order, but you get the idea. You do have to wonder why those entitled fans go along. Do they run round Aldi screaming "You're just a poor man's Waitrose"? What these fans need to do is find another club to follow that won't disappoint them. Saints are guaranteed to disappoint. It's what they do. Mind you, course some fans booed Puel. FFS, what did Puel do for us - other than get us to a Wembley final we should have won. Oh and finished 8th in the league. He deserved all he got the bloody useless bugger.
You mean they’re not provided in the Chapel End? Well, that’s one place I won’t be going then. Am I allowed to tut loudly if I go there and people say rude things?
This is probably the most pessimistic I have felt going into a game since Ralph took charge. Fully expect us to be outclassed by a far superior side, yet for some reason I still can't bloody wait til kick-off.
It's the thing called hope and as Saints fans we could legitimately set up a 3 year degree course at Southampton University on that subject. Let's face it we have plenty of real knowledge of hopefulness! As I've mentioned before I normally cannot watch Saints on tv live or listen to the commentary, the reason being if they were on a winning streak, I'd finish it by ending my habit. However seeing that we are being fully tipped to lose I'll probably watch it tonight until it might get too painful. Somewhere in my brain I feel sure we've been here before and shocked all the pundits and won in such circumstances. At least we start with a point!
