Can I watch him on your telly next game? On my telly, he contributed fcuk-all. Poor passing, poor control, greed, ambling back to 'help' the defence, shooting - couldnae hit a coos arse wi' a banjo. Liability who's had more (failed) chances than anyone probably in Leeds history.

EDIT: Just looked at the BBC ratings. They rate Roberts at 4.18. Last place. Even behind the subs. Clearly watching the same game as me.

Agree about his shooting & finishing in general.

Tonight he had the best chance in the game and smashed it straight at the keeper...must be improving as he usually clears the South Stand <laugh>

Roberts actually took up some nice positions and got in to the hole behind villas midfield quite often. He played in Raphinha a couple of times and should have scored with the first half chance. However, he doesn't look to have much stamina and that affects his touch. He then gets sloppy. He doesn't have the quality to make those moments count on a consistent basis.

Him and Rapha were the only players to get the ball and drive at the Villa defence. When he did he drew the cynical fouls that Villa did all night. Perfect example was his booking. He was clear and running at Villa when he was tripped then prevented from taking a quick free kick. He reacted and got booked.

It wasn't all bad from him. He just doesn't seem to have the quality to know what to do with that space he finds. Therefore a 5.

He was far better than Bamford tonight.

There weren't many who played well tonight...even golden boy Raphinha made poor decisions, took bad touches and missed a gilt edged chance in stoppage time.

Hardly fair then to try and single out Roberts for having a stinker which was far from the case.

Also I would like to stick up for Klich a bit too. He looks to have attracted a few negative comments after tonight.

If and when you are lucky enough to get back to Elland Road to watch live football again do yourselves a favour and watch Klich all game. It's not about what he does with the ball, it's what he does without it. He is so important to how we play under Bielsa. He is one of the most unselfish players I have ever seen. He constantly makes runs and drags players out of position allowing others to have lots of space. He also makes the inside runs that cause the overload on the flanks. He does this whilst rarely getting possession himself. Then he sprints back when we lose the ball to try and help defensively.

Recently he has been poor with the ball which obviously stands out. He also has been carrying an injury for some time which has made him less mobile. Throw in the fact that he has Rodrigo now making similar runs to him and has tried to adjust and we have the answer to his loss of form.

Tonight Klich was OK. His passing is still off but he made some cracking runs tonight. Then he had to play the Phillips role which he isn't suited to. He did this whilst carrying a niggle.

    Klich did OK tonight considering.

My thoughts regarding tonight’s game was that Villa got a lucky goal. Pitch played a part. Yes, Cooper could’ve stepped up and Costa could’ve stuck with his man and Meslier could’ve got to the ball quicker but I think it’s one of those where it’s one of those goals where it isn’t an error and it just happened.

Villa were pretty good defensively for the rest of the game and solid. I wouldn’t say they’re a better team than us but they had our number tonight and we still have good players missing and need a few new signings in the summer and Europe will be in our sights.

No player really deserved above a 5 tonight bar probably Cooper, Llorente and Dallas. Also need to stick up for Klich as I thought he made some really good runs off of the ball tonight.

Raphinah had his worst game but think he prefers being on the right flank. Why when Harrison came on did they carry on playing on the wrong side. Yes they swapped a bit but we looked unbalanced all match

klich is struggling with a hip injury so wish we could kill the game in the first half and then sub him off to try someone else as we need to have cover for him. Klich has played constantly since Bielsa landed

As we're more or less safe we may as well rest Klich and keep him fresh for next season. Give one of the youngsters a run in the side, at least until Rodrigo's back.

    Morning all.
It's another day and the sun has come up.
We're going to lose some games in our first year back in the Prem. deflected shots that end up as passes and flukey goals off the cross bar hurt.
A few players have been criticised but I didn't see anyone not busting a gut yesterday. Sometimes it just doesn't happen and we are missing some huge players.
I'm just glad that I get to support a team playing Bielsaball and not the Smith/Terry 2 lines of 4 defence. It was effective but when your stand out players are at the back you're not entertaining the "fans"

More of a worry is that we're going to London next to play a team in very good form who have already turned us over this season.
Let's hope KP and Rodrigo are available.

I would like to see some of the kids Doc raves about getting some game time.
My only frustration is, as has been said, that the substitutions are predictable. They didn't really change the game. But I still trust Bielsa.

There's not a lot of people agree with you on social media.

    https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/02/bl...united-fans-slam-tyler-roberts-performance-2/

Quite apart from the article itself, have a look on the 'Roberts Out' vote. 93% voted to get rid when I looked at it. (646 out of 696 votes cast).

Roberts was hit and miss in the first half. The chance he should have scored from... there was some great control and a really good pass from him in the build up. He tried stuff some came off some didn’t. Shooting was poor. Second half he was poor... maybe he gassed, maybe he was just sh*t, not sure.

Whichever I find the witch hunt on Him a bit rich. I think he’s been good off the bench since Christmas.. but average at best in his starts. Bielsa picks him, he tries, if he’s not good enough then bielsa should pick someone else.

Last year we were told we couldn’t criticise bamford for missing sitter after sitter, because he ran around a lot... we need to get behind the team etc.

But Roberts is fair game apparently. Maybe with a long run in the team he’d up his level. I’m not sure he will, he’s been stop start and his progress from promising beginnings has been disappointing, but I find the constant hate on him boring and hypocritical.

Harrison has been out of form and costa played well last week so got a chance... now he’s ‘not good enough etc’. Maybe he’s not but the difference between the Southampton and villa games was who scored first. Southampton chased the game last week after we scored and gave us space on the break, which suits costa. Villa parked the bus.

Everyone looked poor yesterday. Because only a few select teams have the players to unpick packed defences and we’re not one of them.

Raphinha was **** yesterday and missed an absolute sitter. Mings woke up this morning and found bamford still in his pocket. But it’s costa and Roberts copping it as usual.

    Let's be clear.

I gave him 5 out of 10 for yesterday. That is a below par score. I've never said Roberts should start for us. I've actually said the opposite.

You asked why I even gave him a score of 5. I replied with a couple of reasons why with examples. I also said he doesn't have the quality to know what to do at this level and that there were players just as bad yesterday.

I don't do social media but if they disagree with me then they must be saying he is decent?

What’s all the flack aimed at klich about. The manager tells us he’s been playing with an injury... side before self. Yesterday he was industrious, worked hard, was solid in possession and his passing was generally not bad (when he was bang out of form for a while before Christmas he couldn’t make a 10 yard pass). Decent solid if unspectacular centre midfield performance. He can’t hit a barndoor with a banjo when he sets his sights on goal but that’s not the benchmark of performance for a guy in his position.

:emoticon-0137-clapp :emoticon-0148-yes: We are much better when teams come to play football. Villa wouldn't know the word entertainment if it kicked them up the arse, then they'll go over holding their leg

I posted during the game that I was beginning to agree with people’s assessments of Roberts. He lost the ball a lot, holds onto for too long for no real reason. I’m probably being unfair on him but when I see him play, he just gives me the impression that he has an overinflated opinion of his own talent. It might be he just wants to impress but that maybe what’s holding him back. A lot of talk about Gelhardt but if he can’t shift Roberts then he’s clearly not ready.
