It's been said by me before, and I think by others on here, that there's been rumours for almost 2 years now that Sartori had fallen out with Donald. Whether they are true or not is the question, but I can believe its highly likely. Maybe Sartori gave a pitch to KLD to buy us as he wanted Donald out after falling out with him. Maybe he's happy with the current set up of just being an investor without the day to day involvement (it might have been what he originally wanted to be) because he trusts KLD but stopped trusting Donald. Or maybe he's wound up being collateral damage because of the way Donald's behaved. Could be any of these, none of these or something else entirely. One thing I will say is that if the rumoured fall out is true, plus his rumoured behaviour in this takeover, plus his behaviour with FFP, plus stories of how he allegedly pissed off the Spanish lot when he first took us over, Donald will be lucky to have any friends in business in the future.
I think he’ll definitely have a real go at getting us back to the prem but like he said there’s no panic there at the minute, they have a plan and I for one trust he’s got it all in hand. If we have to wait another season to get into the championship and we spend another 2 or 3 seasons in there I’ll take that as progress. It’s better than the regression we’ve seen over the last 5 years.
The wage cap being scrapped is huge for us. It was absolutely vital that we got out of this league this season. Obviously it is still best if we can, especially since we now have an owner who could afford to make us competitive in the championship, but it's not the end of the world if we don't. In some ways having a load of new players come in, with a season in this league to bed them in whilst hopefully winning the thing wouldn't be bad. If we don't go up this season I'm confident we will next. With fans back in the ground and actually enjoying it for once!
Agree, not the end of the world if we don’t go up but being in the championship will help attract better players rather than paying over the odds to persuade them to drop to league 1 KLD is obviously minted but I’d still like to see him get value for money and I’d rather players came because they were excited about the journey and not for the pay packet. Great times ahead though all the same.
I agree with that. I probably didn't explain very well, but I meant more the reason for his attendance at the Burton game. If names had to be given in advance, he may have been entitled to attend. Again, im just guessing.
I still think that KLD and his team had a decent say in the salary cap being scrapped. Absolutely no knowledge of it but going off his very matter of fact approach in his interview and how ruthless he has been so far, you can’t help but think that him and his lawyers would have wrapped the EFL in knots over it.
Don't see the big issue with SD going to games at the moment. I think we all know that as soon as fans are back in the stadium the spineless twat will NOT be attending games.
He is clearly trying to have a few parting shots by riling the fan base, I wouldn’t give the fat fukka the satisfaction, yesterday’s news
I m not a betting man as I said before. Donald and Methven have egos. They will not see this scenario like we do. They will think they have shares, were in charge when we started this cup run and will feel entitled to be there. I hope they are not. If it comes down to a choice between them two or two empty seats I know what I’d want.
I didn't realise that the player renumeration lot had a pre-existing and legally enforceable position that required the EFL and clubs to consult with them about the salary cap. Otherwise I would have responded differently. I don't think it required any threats of KLD and his top notch legal team. The PFA had it covered and a first year law student could have tied the EFL into knots, that's how weak their case was. You have to wonder why the EFL and certain clubs went down that road. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the whole thing was just a play for preventing the bigger clubs in this league taking advantage of our financial clout whilst the Accringtons had sod all revenue. Nothing else seems to make sense. You would think the EFL would have been desperate to get the case sorted before even the first transfer window closed. But no, the case was left hanging until the second window had closed. Now something the EFL SHOULD worry about is SAFC not getting promoted and KLD sending his lawyers after the EFL for illegal restraint of trade!
KLD has made his feelings quite clear and I'm sure he's looking forward to Wembley. He'll know he will be a focus for the TV cameras and his actions will be scrutinised by the supporters and everyone else. Hell be aware of the statement those actions will make. He's not daft.
He's certainly not daft. And the people around him, who have no doubt been entrusted to guide him, are certainly by no means daft. As your mate said, they'll run rings around SD & CM if they need to.
Donald tried to come out of this with some dignity but KLD subsequently stabbed him in the front ... ... if that was me I'd be fuming and wouldn't sit near the new owner at Wembley. The club are issued with tickets, 10 I believe, which they allocate to their 'officials' as they see fit. As we now have quite an entourage I doubt there'll be any left over for a couple of minority shareholders who have no real reason to be there.
There's an awful amount of stuff the lad could do to diminish any share holding of all the Chancers and it wouldn't take much doing. I'm sure both he and the chancers know these options.
