I always find that notion ridiculous tbh. People like Short, FPP, KLD, whoever don't need holding by the hand and introducing to a football club. Business people are well aware of what's going on in the world and football clubs couldn't be more visible. STID gave us huge exposure and this. is someone who lives in Europe, loves football and studied the subject in Leeds which is, as far as I know, quite close to Sunderland. Everyone in football knew the club was for sale. I don't credit Donald & Methven with a damn thing.
Apart from asset stripping the club, telling lies whenever they opened their mouth, being the worst ownership and bringing the club to the lowest level in its history
I read that the connection to KLD was Satori possibly via his wife's family owning Monaco, but it could equally be KLD doing the connecting after watching STID. Who cares anyway, the strippers are gone, and I am still gobsmacked at the quality of the new board appointments. In the company I worked at all of the last 3 CFO's ended up as CEO and all of them had brains the size of a planet working at warp speed, with memories to match. The company is very successful in its market but nowhere near the size of the Louis Drefus organisation. I don't think we need a magic carpet anymore with people of this calibre running the club.
I can't help laughing at the way KLD handled this. I was told that part of the negotiations were that Donald would be 'allowed one phone call' before he was banished. I took that with a pinch of salt then Donald duly made his farewell speech as he'd been promised, he no doubt smirked his little smirk when he made it. At which point KLD took his crossed fingers from behind him, held them up and laughed at Donald ... ... before releasing his own statement which totally destroyed what Donald just said. The lad who told me this says Donald wants to go to Wembley but doesn't think hell be allowed ... .... so let's see. I hope KLD's mam is there ....
Donald's final remarks on SAFC.com did make me feel like it was his one last chance to tell us all how brilliantly he has done - all while being shooed out the door. I hope to god he and Methven have nothing more to do with our club at all from now on (I mean apart from owning a portion of it )
i still don’t understand what impact resigning as a director really has to be honest. He owns part of the club, so will still have some sway as to the direction his investment takes?
He won't have any at all ... ... his only choice is to either keep or sell the shares. He's not entitled to attend board meetings, doesn't have any vote and can't go to the club offices without prior arrangement. Louis-Dreyfus has total control and can do whatever he thinks fit.
I’m not a betting man but I’d wager both Donald and Methven will be at Wembley. Their egos won’t let them stay away.
