Good Morning. It's Wednesday 24th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Rampant Leeds add to Saints misery

Leeds got back to winning ways in style following a captivating second half display reminiscent of their glory days. After a captivation first 45 minutes, full of incident involving a disallowed goal, penalty u-turn and last ditch tackle, (albeit tackle of the season) the half finished in stalemate, but the flood gates were about to open.

Bamford broke the deadlock a couple of minutes after the interval. Leeds leading scorer latched onto Roberts through ball, timing his run perfectly before calmly slotting the ball between the defenders legs and beyond the keepers reach.

From this point onward, it was almost one way traffic, though history will remind us that a 1-0 scoreline is never enough when it comes to Leeds. Dallas doubled the scoreline twelve minutes from time. The Northern Ireland International found the corner of the net following a surging run from a rejuvenated Costa.

The icing on the cake came six minutes from time. Raphinha's 25 yard free kick beat McCarthy at his near post. Awkward dipping free kick, but you'd expect a keeper of McCarthy's class to perhaps do better.

What did you think of Llorente's first full game for the club? Is it 15m well spent? Did he make a difference?

    Southampton Manager Ralph Hasenhuttl

    Penalty decision

The penalty decision in the first half has angered many Leeds fans on social media. Saints midfielder Nathan Tella went to ground in the penalty insisting that Leeds defender Diego Llorente had bought him down.

Originally the man in black Andre Marriner pointed to the spot, but after consulting with VAR, decided to review the decision. Thankfully for Leeds, Llorente had the experience to know what was happening and withdrew his leg from anywhere near the 21yo.

Once Marriner had disallowed the spot kick, the game continued as normal. Tella was not booked, nor was he given a talking to.

What kind of message does this send to the millions of youngsters watching the game?

    Morning,

Hopefully Llorente can now stay injury free because he's absolute quality.

    Morning all,

So managed to only miss the first 20 minutes of the match and what I hear that was probably for the best.

A lot of plAyers impressed last night.

Bamford- every match he gets closer to his England call up.

Raph- just excellent. Best Brazilian since Roque Jr no doubt.

Llorente- Please to see him last 90 minutes and showed exactly why we wanted him.

Cooper- Hopefully some of his critics will start shutting up soon,. He has been solid this season.

Costa- With each appearance he is improving and looked very good last night.

Roberts- Same as Costa. That ball to assist Bamford was so intelligent.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Main takes from last night were that we could have been 2 down before we settled due to leaving their big CB a free header and the penalty. What would we have done after being 2 down? Margins in this league are so tight, as we well know after being beaten by Wolves a couple of times and Brighton for example. So when it goes your way you should just think great, because we deserved to win last night and we deserved to either win or draw those 3 tight matches mentioned.

3 CBs all scored a 7 in every publication, so have to be happy especially for Llorente. He will be brilliant for the rest if the season if he stays fit. Cooper is liable to get into trouble but so are any CB in this keague, but Cooper throws himself in front of howitzer shells constantly and blocks with his body <applause>

Costa is back and come back as a changed man thank god. 2 cracking displays as sub shows why Bielsa likes to have wingers. Harrison has been poor and deserves the hook and now Costa deserves a chance

Shackleton was due to start but got injured and its now obvious that Klich is unfit. His hip isnt getting better and it may need him having a couple of weeks rest, afterall he played more consecutive games than anyone else. So we need someone to step up at No8 - Shackleton, Roberts, Greenwood, Gelhardt? Moving Dallas from LB isnt the answer

We are lacking a DM and 2 AMs at the moment and as we are probably safe, maybe the time to introduce some experiments? Yes we could us Llorente at DM and leave Struijk with Cooper, but Bielsa has a few options

Be good to find out when we can expect Phillips and Rodrigo back because all of a sudden we would be getting towards having a strongish team out for the first time in ages

Just to add that this seasons player of the year will probably be Raphinah but jeez you have to take your hat off to Dallas who turns out every week and plays wherever hes told and usually puts on a performance

Yeah the majority of voters will be those who are wowed by the skills and goals. Not those less fashionable workhorses who are just as important to the team.

Well said, when we signed stu from Brentford as a winger I was pleased as he looked a decent acquisition, but he didn't quite hit the heights..now he has been turned into a very, very useful utility man with the guidance of the maestro,he has certainly found his Irish jig again

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl said 'clever' fouls from Leeds on Saints counter-attacks played a huge part in the final result.

"They're very clever," he said in his post-match press conference. "They always stopped our counter-attacks with a simple foul in the midfield. It stops everything. They do it very smart. They have been nasty today and we haven't been in the second half. We were in the first half but in the second half we were a nice opponent who delivered chances and gave them three points.

Llorente did well, took a while to get going and made some poor passes but came into the game. Probably should've scored but will make our team better.

With Tella it's poor. No idea why he wasn't booked? Blatant cheating. Should be an automatic yellow. Refs really need to take action with this in the game and it'll soon stop.

I'll admit I did a lot of shouting at the tv in the first half, Klich didn't win one tackle and was poor. Now I realise he was injured, doh! The pitch was like an ice rink and doesn't suit a free running team like Leeds, nevertheless the players coped admirably. Second half was great, pity Sky missed the lead up to Bamford's goal, I didn't get my usual "rush", the ball was in the net before I realised what was happening. This was a big win, 3 defeats in a row would have put a lot of pressure on Saturdays game, now I can relax a little. No Mr Tumble hopefully, they're not the same without that asshole.

    Afternoon all

In regards to the comment from Hassenhuttl, I’ve noticed how Ayling intelligently wins a lot of free kicks by falling on the ball when he feels any contact from behind, as for fouls they gave away two more free kicks than us
