Just having a look through the cards and I guess the big question today is, will the real Cyrname turn up at his favourite track?. Sporting cheekpieces today which could really help and with a small field of 5 runners surely there can be no excuses.

I m reluctant to get stuck in at 10/11 and he could be taken on for the lead. Riders on the Storm won the race last year and whilst he was lucky, he s undefeated at the track. Not sure what to expect from this race if I m honest but he could get a nice tow in to the race and it could be run to suit. He ll have to improve but it's not totally out the question....

I'm looking forward to seeing Daryl Jacob coax Master Tommytucker into it <ok>

Some really good races to get your teeth into today.
My main pick is Gladiatuer Allen, improving and gets in on a good weight with a cliamer to boot.

I wonder how much danger money the jockey requires before hopping up on Master Tommytucker? He will surely look to make all and pressure Cyrname early on, but it could also be detrimental if he makes a jumping error, forcing that pace again. I like his enthusiasm, he's an admirable horse. Be good to see if they all get a clean round in to give us a gauge as to where they're at. Intriguing race. I'd be inclined to say if Cyrname is 100% he will win cosily enough.

Racing is getting decimated here the last while, the weather not relinquishing her damp clutch just yet. Not sure of any bet today, but there is some nice racing to watch, I might nick one or two from here during the afternoon if you would be so kind as to point me in the right direction <ok>

    Morning all...bets today:

Ascot 2.25pm Newtide 11/2 each way. Horse is a big unit, had a wind op and I can see him running a big race here. Money is about for it.

Haydock 2.40pm Lord du Mesnil 8/1 each way. Has very strong course form and with further rain about at Haydock conditions will be ideal. Has dropped 3lbs too and with his mark being unaffected for his next target the Grand National I think a big run is on the cards.

Ascot 3.35pm Riders on the Storm 18/1 each way. Not sure what to expect in this race and whilst it's quite possible Cyrname will be too good, I have backed this fella. Won this race last year, was pretty progressive last season and might come back to form in this. Big price.

    Good luck all! :emoticon-0167-beer:

Lord Du Mesnil has had a few issues this season with his diet but they think he is now getting the correct mix and is in good form at home. He is getting to a better handicap mark and everything today looks set to suit. I’ve backed him.

Regal Encore is a horses for courses type too and is a bet at his beloved course. Severano is the horse for me in the Reynoldstown and Ravished is a bet against the professionals in the Hunters Chase.

It's certainly a nice weight to be carrying around on what will be a huge stamina test. How is Dr. Newland on form though? He had a short priced one run a poor race at Fakenham yesterday iirc, although the jockey wasn't aiding that ones cause throughout. I don't have a strong opinion on a race of this nature but I always think it pays to side with the more experienced ones over this type of test. I think someone on here has some info from Newland's from time to time, is it stick or Nassau, maybe I'm imagining that though.

Further to this, have you any news on Perfect Cadidate's wellbeing Nass? He does love it around here.

I think Daryl Jacob is one of the best jockeys around for a horse like Master Tommytucker. He has a great pair of hands and seems to really communicate with the horse. He made Rouge Vif look an absolute monster at Cheltenham early in the season but that horse hasn't looked the same again with Sheehan on his back. There was a great piece on Master Tommytucker on ITV a few weeks back - they were saying how the jockey has to keep his legs firmly in contact with the horse to give him confidence and when Cobden asked him up at the last and his legs lost contact with the horse, the horse didn't know what to do and ploughed straight through it. Be fascinating to see how a really intelligent jockey like Jacob gets along with him.

I ve not backed Cyrname today STH..just think Cobden has got the hang of the Tommytucker and being a dodgy jumper think it's a big risk today with Jacob.

I have gone for the outsider in the field...brilliant song btw and name for a horse..

Sounds like you like a bit of slow foreplay, Oddy!
I suppose he is riding an excitable mount.<laugh>
PS. Jacob’s not so good at the finish.

sorry didn’t see this. PC is fit and very well, I just worry that they will go too fast for him and if he doesn’t sit up with the pace he can get a bit sulky.
