The lefties will be crying in their latte's. What is the date of broadcast?
I see they are picking up some of the good presenters
Sky News journalist Colin Brazier is leaving the broadcaster after 23 years to anchor a daytime news, interview and debate programme on GB News.
At last a decent news channel

First, it will have to comply with Ofcom's rules on impartiality. Second, those who don't like it can watch Euronews or similar.

This Cancel Culture of the Left that you have to stop free speech because it might not always comply with left wing principles is dangerous. Andrew Neil is a serious journalist and interviewer and there is no shade of left or right that doesn't incur his wrath at times - remember the negative stuff he threw at Boris for not attending a pre election interview with him. But he also makes lightweight politicians like Angela Rayner (sorry, Col!) look ill-prepared and daft

No date set yet, but soon, perhaps during the spring. It's not rolling news like Sky but a series of news based programmes, interviews, etc

Looks like the Court has simply applied the law to the facts. That Uber has huge control over its drivers and thus, they are, in actuality, employees

Cool, although it's 24hr? Be good to get a decent news program without all the 'leftie love in' Sky and BBC can keep the Burley's/Maitles/Kuenssberg's and the rest of them. I can see many people switching.

You’ve got more faith than me that Paul Dacre will be big on enforcing impartiality.

Don’t think anyone credible is trying to shut down free speech for right wingers and if they are they’re doing a demonstrably **** job as the ****s are everywhere. Except Darren Grimes who appears to have had some sort of breakdown and moved back in with his mum.

I don't know, but I suspect it's not 24 hour but will respond to big stories so will increase coverage as and when necessary. It may build into 24 hours in time. Just my guess

Well yes, it was an obvious conclusion really, but it will have massive repercussions.

A test of this government's commitment to maintaining workers' rights.

Dacre isn't head of Ofcom. I agree he wouldn't be appropriate because he's nailed his colours to a right wing mast for years.

There was a movement of lefties who were threatening to remove their patronage to anyone who advertised on GB News. And this is before the station has broadcast. These threats are all part of cancel culture

I've seen no sign that the government intends to undermine current workers' rights

It seems a decent judgement but I wonder, as we come out of lockdown, and the furlough safety nets are removed, whether it may deprive some unemployed of jobs being offered. Employers will think harder about taking someone on. Speculation on my part.

For many Tories it was one of the main advantages of Brexit.

I never heard one saying that. Employment laws and protections may differ from now on, in some cases, they may be stronger going forward. Even taking the most cynical view, diluting employees rights is not a vote winner.

Unless you sell it to people as cutting red tape, deregulation, “Singapore-on-Thames” etc.

Funny I keep hearing people saying 'you said or wanted this'. people are just making up rubbish about Brexit because those myths are being busted.

This is what the Left wing press and Labour have been squawking about, but I've seen no sign so far coming from Boris's government. How would he water down worker's right and keep the Red Wall onside?

This is a real 'two edged sword'. Having worked for AddyLee for 7 years I was self-employed but tied to their vehicle and app. That suited me as I had my local government pension so didn't have to work silly hours, I worked the most lucrative times and could often do just 4 or 5 hours if I reached my target.

Obviously those working full time have a different view but what they may not realise is that if they become an employee their company will dictate their hours and, crucially, won't pay them the fare from the job as they already will have a salary. They will most likely get a small mileage commission but they could do three or four £100+ jobs in a week but only get their basic plus small commission all at the behest of the company.

The holiday and sick pay is a big plus but their actual working conditions may be a lot less to their liking. Rest assured Uber and AddyLee will have expected this judgement and will already have worked out to the penny how much they'll need to 'prune' to make it workable in their favour. In the current climate with most drivers having lost over 50% of their income job losses are inevitable...
