this is a given. refs revert to 1970s levels of acceptance of thuggery for this derby only. evertons red card ratio is i think about 2:1 in this fixture in total but you have to go back to 2010 for the last LFC red which was kyrgiakos. IMO the games have not got better, refs have let more off. As long as its not a terrible lunge they bascially let anything go IMO. in the 2000s it was quite bad, but in the last 10 years we've seen really serious injuries If we imported the ref from last night for the derby everton would be down to 5 players after 30mins. the double standards in england are ridiculous. If you go play a relegation threatened side away for example you can have a ref decide to turn quite the blind eye to a lot of stuff, then the following week refs are throwing cards for the same stuff.
We are there for the taking at the weekend Anything less than a win for your boys this time is failure imho As for the stuff MITO is saying - there from my blinkered red specs - seems to be some level of Creedence in there You were known As the dogs of war under Moyes for a period and tbh I don’t know why you see that as a bad thing or a negative IF and I say IF you guys have been over zealous or tough or thugs then it’s up to us to rise to that the only thing that has niggled me is seeing Pickford not see red Nothing to do with who it was on etc but cause simply put it was a stone wall red - the ref in question has apologised which is all well and good but they didn’t learn hence the debacle with Maguire the other week at United. Ftr I also think that had you played city when you were supposed to you would have turned them over and that the postponed match was a joke - I have no idea if it impacts the end result of the season for city but it could with how tight the league is have massive ramifications for Everton but we shall see
I still remember a derby where Steve McMahon & Peter Reid spent the whole game just booting each other . It looked distinctly like the ref said quite early on that was fine but if they booted anyone else they would be booked . Think both really enjoyed the game
So let me get this right, if we don’t go to Anfield and win for the first time in over 20 years, where until very recently you where unbeaten in the league in years, then that’d be a massive failure? Right oh MITO specifically referred to injuries in the last 10 years, and was talking out of his arse. He’d have had a fit of the vapours had he been at the derbies of the 80’s lol. The City game postponement stank tbh, but it is what it is. They beat us last night with a Worldie and a top notch goal, and their bench was obscene, whilst we were obvs missing DCL, who’d have been there had the game been played when it should have been.
oh right. ok then funes mori doing origi's ankle ligaments then grabbing the everton badges to celebrate it. Doesn't ring a bell? richalison miles over the top of the ball straight legged assualt on thiago I know LFC fans "hardly" ever mention these thins so I can see whay you'd not recall. As i said the 2000s were littered with bad tempered red cards for all sorts of fights and everything but for the last years the reds have been for really bad challenges Pickford scissor lunge at on vvd should have been a red. it was a disgrace that should have ended the ref or vars career
Aside from the last one, which is what I said. I’d forgotten the Origi incident. So that’s one then In a decade. I remember Rodwell getting sent off for winning the ball and Suarez conning Atkinson if that helps.
