I can't understand why you bullshit LJ up like you continue to do when he has won and done nothing, yet a man that has considerable success for our club you are very critical of, some examples you have expressed and listed today, of course you are entitled to your opinion of Cotts but I think the guy deserves a lot more credit than he is getting.

    * They think SC should be knighted for a promotion from the 3rd tier.....
    * So that coupled with poor form and stubbornness not to change tactics are what cost him his job at City.
    * There were a lot of rumours that SC was a control freak and bully boy
    * I think he's (Pearson) a better version of Steve Cotterill tactically and ability, but with the same stubborn flaws.

I agree with the Maguire transfer as that's public knowledge. The price for Gray and Gayle was always £9/10m from recollection, and SL did back him with cash, he just couldn't spend it, or tried for unobtainable targets at that time.

I also agree (and always have) that in terms of honours; LJ achieved nothing that will show in the record books.

Sorry mate you are wrong, SC agreed 6mil for Gray early in the summer (because Brentford needed the money in the bank) and SL through the then CEO tried as they did with Maguire to sign him cheaper, his price went up to 9mil because the season was closer to the window closing.

SL did not back him with cash, he and the CEO scuppered every deal he had set up and ended spending 2mil for Kodjia and 50k on Garita. That is the reality.

And SC was sacked for dragging us into a relegation battle FACT!!. I'm not slagging off SC. I acknowledged what he did, but also I'm acknowledging what were the failings that got him sacked by SL - not me, or 1For that sacked him.

    Both managers and I guess DH as well for that matter, were given their targets in the season they got sacked;

SC - To keep us in the Championship - he was failing and got sacked
LJ - To reach the play-offs - he was failing and got sacked
DH - To reach the play-offs - he was failing and got sacked

Why do you ONLY focus on LJ's failings?

The issue is, you, Wiz and RP were so angry at LJ's appointment, that you have allowed your hatred of LJ to blind you at how bad we were under SC in the Championship.

I notice you ignore the Gayle transfer, which If I recall came first, Gray was the second choice?

Well, the way we are going Wiz we might well get relegated again this season, then perhaps if we get promoted again, you can savour your version of success all over again, and laud to the hills whichever manager achieves it!!
Not for me thanks, my ambitions for the club I support are loftier than that! Being established in the Championship means to me that we are more successful than if we got relegated again this season, and then won the 3rd Division title again next season, just to say we have "actual" success. To each their own I guess, it seems you see it diufferently.

I have to bring up on another inaccuracy, I was never angry about LJ's appointment or that I have any hatred for him that is just not true in fact it's a lie and one that you cannot back up, unlike some who for instance who publicly stated on this forum their hatred for Pulis and used the word 'hate'. All I am is honest about LJ, I have always referenced his achievements, achievements peculiar to our club and our championship existence. I wanted him, Ashton and even Pulis to succeed unlike others who pick and choose who they do or do not support.

The fact is yes we were in a relegation fight and yes he had to go because the owner pays the bills and they were barely speaking, but to say he was backed in the transfer market by SL is totally false, he was set up to fail by the actions of SL and his then CEO and with his transfers left in tatters left to scrabble around in August for loaners, hardly a great way to start a campaign.

Apologies, I should not have put you in the LJ hater category that the other 2 are in. I also just call it with LJ on how it was, it's others who distort the truth and add in so many other irrelevant, and uneven factors that they don't apply similarly to other managers we have or have had. That gets my goat in all walks of life, and if I see an injustice I will stand against it, and I feel that there are 2 people on here in particular who this applies to, so on that issue, I will always clash with them, and I won't and don't apologise for it. I agree with these 2 on many other issues, and their views, but I can't abide their stance on LJ, which to me amounts to bullying and being a bigot, and started from the moment he was appointed, long before things went downhill for him!

Sorry! Plus, my "hatred" of Pulis isn't real, it was a football hatred, in that he was a Gashead. Not I hate him and I would throw rocks at him, just thought I ought to clarify, as you seem keen to use it against me....

Makes me laugh that LJ still gets the headlines on here even though he's been gone 7 months or so.
Nearly every thread he's featured....And when it goes quiet on these boards, there's nothing better for drumming the interest backup .......:emoticon-0105-wink:
Wiz & RP are brilliant at it............................The love is still there I see!!!..<laugh>

I love passion, I love different opinions, I love principles, I love the genuine article, you are welcome to have and express your beliefs, allow others to have and follow theirs, I think you are accusing me and another of being a bully, a bigot, distorting the truth, supporting an injustice and being a hater of LJ, carry on matey, it's so stupid I don't wish to engage you, the argument is a *** end, we all know the advantages LJ had, we all know the squander, the 63 plus signings, fantastic owners support despite ongoing failures, the broken promises about 3 transfer windows, Premier fooball, European competition in 5 years, with regard to football I think he was a conman, a lucky fella, he succeeded in splitting our fan base, in all of the years I have supported our club I have never experienced the ill feelings he created amongst fellow fans, I celebrate he is out of our club and gone.

I know LJ is a great family man, loves his wife and children with a passion, loves his mum and dad, he is honest in life and stable, I wish him all of the best in his career and the future, I don't hate the man, never have, I am honest enough to admit as a player and manager I found him boring and a non event but it ended there.

As for the last paragraph, I know it's a football hatred and I was keen to use it against you because unless I have missed something (and I may well have) I haven't seen the other 2 use the word 'hate'.

As for SC it was obvious SL wanted him gone in the summer, but knew it was impossible because of the total uproar it would have caused given the season we had just had. I believe the problem arose thus, SC believed he was unsackable so got above his station somewhat and SL as we know was never going to allow that to continue for too long, I also believe that the disruption of SC's transfer plans was deliberate and calculated and designed to split the fans paving the way for his sacking and yes you are correct I forgot about Gayle who went on to propel Newcastle to promotion another disrupted signing. And I believe also that SC was not privvy to the signing of Kodjia, I seem to recall a comment about asking who he was when he arrived, again if true designed to provoke a reaction IMHO.

The upshot was SC was fired and Ashton was brought straight in and LJ was the only candidate in the frame and it took 3 weeks to work on a compensation package (and Barnsley were in an incredibly strong position over that).

My only contention is that we are not where we find ourselves at this moment in time by accident, it can be traced back to the introduction of Ashton (who to be fair started off really well) and the next significant date was January 2018, when suddenly we totally lost our way results wise and more worryingly the loss of our exciting brand of football, the results never became consistent from that date forward and the exciting brand of football became increasingly worse, especially at home, where I believe we have failed to win around 50% of our games during since. We were then subjected to another SL show of strength and lied to and bullshitted to about the next appointment, again not properly supported transfer wise, Brunt, Mariappa and Lansbury are without doubt in my mind Ashton signings and probably even Sessegnon and Mawson, it was never going to work and here we are where we are.

There was a teacher at Hartcliffe School back in the 80s - a colleague of Mrs R&W - who was absolutely MAD on Hitler and the Nazi's (he himself wasn't a Nazi - he was just fascinated by that period of history).
Whenever he was present at social events, everyone compared notes behind his back about if he ever dropped references to Hitler into his conversation - and he ALWAYS did. It was quite clever really - you'd be talking about something random, like Christmas Pudding for example, and he would SOMEHOW throw Hitler into the conversation. Always. Every time.
It's a bit like that with LJ on here <laugh>
Although I'm as guilty as anyone for doing it myself <nahnah>
