How do we feel about this? Happy, sad, don't care? I think its important that we know that Wenger is prepared to spend large amounts of money occasionally.

We ddn't need him. Here are two more interesting statements: Arsene Wenger persisted with Almunia and Fabianski and waited until january to use Chesney and the most interesting part of the article:We bid £20 million for a keeper if we can spend that much on a keeper, why couldn't we spend £25mil on a midfielder, mata?
We did need him a year ago. We could afford Reina because his wages are much lower than Mata's. Mata demands well above 100K. Wenger did not wait until January to use Szczesny - if Fabiansky was not injured he might well be still our no 1 keeper.
A top keeper would never join Arsenal. I think they may face the fact that all they have is 3rd rate keepers ie Almunia, Fabianski and Chesney.
Well, Reina just confirmed that he wanted to join Arsenal, and the board blocked his move. This is what this topic is about. Don't you think it makes your post stu.. irrelevant? And we have a top keeper now in Szczesny.
Doubt he does now. Also, while the Liverpool poster is one of the reasons I stay away from my own team's forum, if you bite he'll keep going. Szchesney isn't better than Reina, whether he will ever be is up for debate, talent/potential don't always become what they should. He's going to make mistakes and he's going to be unstoppable at times, you shouldn't compare him to Reina yet, give it a few years.
Ignore KPR. Reina is just being honest. He loves (and loved then) Liverpool, wanted to stay, but, as Torres did, felt betrayed by the owners. Despite his respect for the club and fans etc he did consider a move (understandable), but was told even if he wanted to go, he wasn't going to. And despite all this, in FIFA 12 he put in a transfer request which my board forced me to accept and buggered off to Inter Milan (he was 'homesick'). Footballers eh?
Getting back to the OP You're right, this demonstrates that Wenger is prepared to spend big when needed.
REMINDER TO ALL DOUBTERS! Wenger employs scouts, not a press gang. He cannot force anyone to sign for us. End of message.
I think Reina is an excellent keeper but he does switch off a little too often, given the emergence of Chesney I think it was for the best we did not get Reina. We are actually in great situation with keepers now, Fabianski is excellent back up and Mannone is too good to be a 3rd choice. Almunia can clean the toilets or something, we might as well get a bit of work out of him for 60k a week. Now here's hoping he will actually spend some of this money to a top player lie Goetze, Hazard or M'Villa and try and turn this mess around. Well done to Oxo getting a hatrick for the u 21's, the lads is top drawer.
I'd like to see a little more proof. The owners at Liverpool at the time were only interested in maximising their investment at the club so had they received a £20m offer for their keeper they would have taken it...
Nothing personal, 98% of fans I meet in real life are awful, no matter what team (Except Utd, they are 100% awful, 100% of the time). I try to offer a balanced view, and when I see fans, especially fans of my team!, spouting stuff like "We are going to win the league" or "No Liverpool player would leave to some non-CL winning club" it's kind of hard to swallow. After all, Gerrard was possibly going to leave to Chelsea, or Torres to Chelsea, etc, etc. I donno, maybe I take people's over-optimism badly...
