Evening all. When the old 606 closed and this forum was set up it quickly became a place where old 606ers and others could carry on debating all things charlton. Of course there are disagreements and differences of opinion and I am sure that I am guilty of winding up others on here with some of my comments on political and social issues. However, I never intend to annoy, provoke or antagonise. Like the vast majority on here I'll post a few threads and respond to others when I have the time. Sometimes I'm on here for a few days on the trot, other times I won't log on for a week. A few months ago this board provided an opportunity for sensible and rational debate. It was not monopolised by one or two posters. Views were welcomed and respected and even when there was an occasional fall out, there was an acceptance and understanding of what was appropriate forum behaviour. Nowadays I, like some others on here, now only come on here sporadically. Of course I keep an eye on what is going on but immediately leave the forum if I see it is being, for want of a better word, sabotaged by one or two jokers. I think it is obvious who I am talking about. Of course they'll be the response that people have the right to air their views etc etc and I agree. I also accept that if there are posters on here who I do not wish to engage with then I can ignore them. But. This forum has lost its the identity it built up early on. It is now full of pointless ramblings and individuals seeking self publicity. What a shame this has been allowed to happen. This is in no way a dig at AllHell who does a fine job of overseeing this board and is clearly a fair and reasonable moderator. I just want the old not606 back.
thanks rifleman just on the general chat for one day while was annoyed with cappello im best behaviour promise
I completely agree with this post SirJohn - Reading the site over the summer was what made me decide to join in. Now..... I'm not so sure!!
Yeh I agree, I rarely come on here, mainly because of this Jonathan fella, he is a massive tool and it bores me.
The forum is what you make of it. As far as I can tell you're all happy to come and have a go at it, so I don't really see why you aren't happy to be apart of it. As many people have said, it is very very easy to pick and choose what you read and respond to!
Are CharltonNut and 56 Years both just regular posters in disguise? Or are they genuine human beings?
If JA is controversial, then I must be the Dark Lord of the kitten eating variety. But it is obvious that the forum has taken a nose-dive. It has to stop, this site is too good to just leave.
I don't mind JA but I'm undecided on the other two (whom I mentioned in the previous post), merely because they seem to just be here on a wind-up. The only problem with JA posting on here is the amount of posts and threads that get created moaning about JA. Most of his own threads turn to quite humorous ones, and as far as I'm aware he has generally been sticking to his 2 threads a day rule.
Just seen that Super is now a Mod JA appears to have a guardian angel watching over him Please don't think that these 2 statements are linked ...
People say just dont read his posts, but everyone elses are responses to those! (I understand the irony here)
I agree with Sir John, over the summer and at the start of the season there were 1 or 2 posts a day which piqued my interest enough for me to get into a debate on, but of late the majority of posts seem to be either created by JA (and half of these are not vaguely CAFC related) or posts complaining about him. There have not been too many good discussion topics of late; Perhaps this is a symptom of where we are in the football season, no transfers to discuss and CP is keeping a consistent team and overall we are performing solidly so not much to debate.
I agree but as I'm just concentrating on getting on with it, made my views on the matter quite clear therefore I have no need to say them again. I'll post on here now and then like I have always done. I'll just try my best to ignore the rubbish.
Meow. So how do we make the forum meet requirements again? Is it simply ban JA because we don't like what he says? Or do we concentrate on creating the threads that once interested you all. I think IA made the point that on the first page there are 3 articles from JA, and I've counted 5 that are "about" him. I don't want people to leave, I've debated with many of you for years now and actually value many of your opinions higher than the drunks in the local . Over on 606 we had people like A2C and NG who would cause much controversy in there own ways. I only saw one departure then, and that was muttley. So can I ask what the difference is now?
I enjoy a debate - even on non football subjects occasionally! The only time I ever get annoyed with JA is when he posts something absolutely not football related (i.e ghost stories or fish and chips) and then we get an apology post the following day. If you know you will have to apologize for something don't do it. That being said unless someone is deliberately posting offensive comments I don't see why anyone should be banned.
