The biggest loss of revenue comes from IPTV type streams. To be honest, I just hope that 3pm Saturday games are still available to UK supporters to watch when we can all get back in to the stadiums.
Nor should there be These lazy little bastards these days won’t ever get off their gaming chair if they do
I think there is every chance at least for a few seasons. The opposition to it will fade as clubs realise that the gate income is going to be reduced anyway.
You were talking about when we are all allowed back in. The clubs won't want that then and neither will the TV companies.
Yes when we are allowed back in, gate income will be reduced as significant numbers fail to return. No matches are shown at 3pm on a Saturday now and no matches that are on tv are shown on iFollow so why would the TV companies be bothered? We have around 12 Saturday 3 pm games a season. Just how much income do you think will be lost?
It isn't just us. Clubs would not go along with it. Think they would be in favour of people watching games for £10, which could have half a dozen people watching for that in one hose with a bunch of mates meeting up, when they can charge 2,3 or 4 times that for a single ticket? Can't see it happening.
Any suggestions to those asking if there is a stream that there is a good one on ifollow usually attracts a lot of abuse. What they are asking is for someone else to fork out £10 and then share it with them. Maybe they would pay for Netflix, Amazon Prime etc and let me share it for free.
I think we are in for harsh reality when fans are eventually allowed to enter stadiums again. I can see vastly reduced numbers allowed into stadiums, - 25% maximum attendance, proof of vaccination required, tempearature checks, compulsory mask wearing, no alcohol sales. Sadly, the future of attending live football matches is changing and it won't be for the better. iFollow looks to be here to stay.
I don't fully agree, in the short term perhaps, but once the vaccine program is completed and the risk to the health service reduced, I can see a return to full stadiums being allowed. My view is that changes in social behaviour and inability to actually afford to go to games will be a bigger factor. People will either not want to be in bog crowds or will not have the money to go. At the moment we are still digging in to the money pit and there seems to be no let up. Once the financial support runs out, there will be a monumental crash. Football will be very low in people spending.
I am approaching 72, not in particularly good health nor very mobile. I live over 100 miles away. After 67 years supporting City home and away, iFollow has been a gods send to me and I'm sure others in a similar position. For me anyway, £10 has been a small price to pay and totally worthwhile. I trust everyone is keeping safe, well and happy. And yes, every day is a good day Peter
I'm guessing by the name that you live in Manchester. I live in Preston. I'm 66 next week. I agree with you completely. I still go to the away games close to here but it is a long return trip to the KCOM now. £10 Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday soon adds up but it has let me follow City in a way I haven't been able to do recently. I have said before on here that if they offered us the same deal as they do ex-pats I would happily pay more for a season ticket for television. Ex pats get the entire season for £140 and match by match for £7 per match. It could easily be done without affecting attendances by denying the service to anyone with a Hull or East Riding postcode.
Yes, about 10 miles north of Manchester and apart from Preston, Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton, there's been little else the past few years. As with yourself, I would happily pay more for an iFollow season ticket and I'm sure we are not alone.
That'll bring the number of sane, rational, non-pissed contributers to the not606 City site...well, let's be generous, zero.
